Delano 24TT Window leak

Here is the dilemma. Our Delano’s panoramic window over the upper bunk sprung a leak soaking the bed cushions. What we didn’t know until coming home is that allot of water collected in the ceiling above the drivers compartment and rained down onto the dash and us as we were driving home. Half way home gps and radio go haywire then cruise control quits working. The next morning, it won’t go into drive so, after arguing with dealer, who made us send pictures proving there was no damage from striking a tree, it was towed to the dealership.

This where it gets interesting, the dealer is able to get it into the service bay and claims the window is fixed but think it is better for us to take the coach to Mercedes For electronics as we will get better service.

This is a 45 day old coach, who is responsible for getting coach fixed. I understand that Thor does not warranty the chassis but any damage done to electronics in dash is due to Thor’s window leaking. I’m afraid that if I take it to Mercedes I will be on the hook for any repairs leaving me to fight with Thor for repayment.

Any advice would be helpful.

We had the very same issue with our 2020 DelanoTT. Window over cab bunk leaking, water got into the electronic ignition area and transmission shifter, had to have it towed to Mercedes dealership where it was for two weeks. Got it back to the dealer for Window leak repair on October 7th.......as of today Dec. 9th it is still there no repair made yet. To add to that the slide room jumped track while they had it and ruined the floor that had been replaced already, do to defects.
So they fix the slide mechanism and it breaks a second time. We are now still waiting, and the window is still not fixed and we are told the parts for the slide will not be in until after the first of the year. These are just two of the many problems we have had from the day of delivery Jan. 17, 2020. The unit has been out if service for over 5 months! I will say that the Mercedes Dealership service people were great, they determined that the leak had caused the electronic problems due to water intrusion, and were able to prove this to Thor. In the mean time we still do not have an operable coach!

Hi,
Our floor was actually delaminating......this has been a nightmare. The new floor now has been ruined because the slide room broke not once but twice while in the custody of the repair shop. We waited over two months to get the first floor replaced, we were told that the linoleum company and Thor were in dispute as to who was responsible. The unit has been in the shop for another warranty issue since Oct. 7th to present.

Sorry to hear of your problems.. RV(house) repairs go to RV dealer.. Anything related to the chassis, (Repairs or Maintenance) always go to Mercedes.. The MB electronics are sensitive, and a short circuit or open wire at the RV shop can be really hard to resolve. As posted, the MB dealer can often identify the cause if it falls back to the RV manufacturer.

I wonder if the O.P. ever took his RV to a Mercedes Dealership for the repairs?

Hating to hear the leaking is so common on the Delano. Took delivery on mine in late January ‘21 and this past week found water intrusion at the skylight. Going back to the dealer next week. What has been you experience with fixes for the window leak? Seems like a well sealed window should not be a hard thing to engineer - is the company addressing it as a quality issue?

Leaks are very common and generally NOT addressed very well by manufacturers. For most coaches the leak warranty is only for 90 days. It’s because the machines are big and built light and they flex and bounce with every mile. You’ll be well advised to spend an hour or two several times a year on the roof and a ladder checking your seals. It’s not generally difficult to stay ahead of it but it’s certainly worth doing. Windows seem to be among the worst offenders since glass is less flexible than what surrounds it.

Claude - leak fixed. The dealer has been great standing up to fix the bugs in my new Delano. The side windows in the bunk area were also leaking - fixed. I feel lucky that my problems only resulted in a cleanup after resealing the windows - no other damage. Also replaced a faulty radio, some missing screens , and a circuit board in the fridge that I was unaware I needed.

I have 2022 Thor Delano and I have tons of issues. won't buy this brand any more in future. I have the same leaking problem from bunk window above driver and passenger. it's a common issue and I can noticed the seal install is not proper and they have a poor quality control. I am waiting for factory warranty to fix my issues and it's 5 month already. it's so tough to do anything amount with dealers and Thor , no issues with Mercedes dealers.
