If you are reading the 1st version of the manual, the picture is INCORRECT (found out about it when I did my first oil change). You were most likely trying to pull out the "
oil filler cap", that's is why it came off when you twisted it.
The dip stick is on the PASENGER Side, next to the Transmission Oil Dip stick.
