Angry Disappointed in my Axis

We took delivery on our Thor Axis 24.1 in February. We have had it out once and it has now been in the shops, yes shops for 2 weeks! The a/c in the cab doesn't work and the heat/furnace stopped working in the coach. We called Thor and Motorhome Specialists in Alverado, TX where we bought it and they are passing around responsibility. We have had it at the Ford repair and they told us the cab a/c is a Thor problem so off to Camping World it went. They said it is a Ford issue. So now it is at another Ford center with a specialist from Camping World. WE were supposed to be going to South Padre Island next week but it doesn't look good for that since we won't hear back until Friday. Also when I took the back sofa cushions off the velcro was so strong it ripped a big hole in back fabric Anybody else had these problems?

You need to talk to the Ford Motorhome Division about your A/C problem. Their phone number is 800-444-3311.

I have always had positive experience with Thor's customer care on the few occasions that I have had to deal with Thor .

Good luck with your repairs.

Lokisgirls,

I had a problem with the heater AC in the cab, it was due to a faulty bit of wiring and was covered under a Safety Recall: 15V-530, Safety Advisory RC000103, Sept 1, 2015. Use the search mode this Forum to see a copy of the Recall.

DocMike, We did ask about that and Thor told us that our VIN is not included in that re-call. We are now on our 3rd consecutive week in the shop with no one from Ford, Thor or Camping World figuring our what is wrong. they are all passing the buck- It is a Thor problem ,no it is a Ford problem. We now have the personal phone number of the VP of sales for Thor. Still waiting for an answer. It has seemed to us that each place both Ford and Camping World is put out by having to do warranty work. This is in New Braunfels Texas.

Ford has told us that the cab a/c is an after market add on by Thor. Thor says it is a ford problem. It has been blaming back and forth for 3 weeks now

Vegas/Axis issues

Our 2014 Vegas was in the shop off and on for the first year we owned it. Electrical problems, driveshaft replacement, front-end alignment, plumbing leaks, vinyl floor problems, tire valve problems, windshield washers, rear taillight leaks, cabinet door closers, fuse blowing on dash components, poor caulking, exterior and exterior, shower wall coming loose, bi-fold bath door breaking and locking someone inside the bathroom, generally sloppy workmanship with very poor quality control.
Thor was responsive, and did make most of the repairs, though it took a lot of time for CW to get the approval from Thor to do the work and get the proper parts from them. I did many repairs myself, and improved on the design and execution of some issues.
After a very traumatic first year of ownership, finally, we have had several trips and no problems. I feel I have corrected the issues I knew were going to be problematic in the future. Thor did the warranty thing, and though slow to respond, they did help with the QC and workmanship shortcomings I added a Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer, had the front end realigned and tires balanced, and now the Vegas is truly enjoyable to drive. The Safe-T-Plus is a necessary addition for driving comfort and for safety in a front tire blow-out situation. Good luck.

WOW That is NUTS! I don't have that much patience in me after spending $80,000 on a brand new coach. I am leaving(hopefully) in a couple of weeks for a 6 month trip with my daughter. It will just be she and I. She has cerebral palsy and I don't want to be stuck somewhere waiting for repairs on something that shouldn't need them yet. I have already had the alignment and the Safe T Plus bars put on

If you coach has been in the shop with this issue for 3 weeks have you notified Thor in writing about the problem? Read the section on "What we will do to correct problems" in the Warranty section of the owner's manual.

Yes they have been notified. We had one of the top Thor people call down to the Ford dealership today and apparently wires were crossed and attached incorrectly and once they fixed that the a/c started to work. This is a common enough problem that the Thor expert was able to tell the Ford repair center. I is just very frustrating that it took a total of 7 weeks and 3 in the shop

axis earl It was blowing, just not cold. When we picked it up it was 27 degrees out so the air coming out was cold like the outside air. It wasn't until a few days later when it warmed up that I noticed the air blowing wasn't cold

It is truly disappointing to buy a new coach and have a miriad of problems.
I know it is all about holding Thor & your dealer accountable for warranty work. However, when we were confronted with our problem...I was told by CampingWorld that it would be 3 weeks before they would have a spot on their service lot for our coach, then 1-1 1/2 weeks for them to diagnose the problem..then 2-3 weeks to get in the necessary part/parts to repair the problem...This was not acceptable...we found a RV Repair man, paid out of pocket to have him come to identify the problem. Turns out in our, well documented ordeal, CW had robbed our coach of a part. Once I confronted them with this information, they scheduled us 2 days later and 'found' the part to place in our coach.
We have yet to be compensated for our out of pocket expense. That is in the works.
We were lucky in that the fellow we found had 20 yrs experience and within an hour he knew what was going on.
You may try to find a similar option in your area. If you are leary of such an option...do some checking.

Good Luck ... when you get your Axis up and running properly..you will LOVE it !!

Have had our Vegas 24.1 for a year now and taken several trips to NH, Nova Scotia, Gulf Coast, New Orleans. Initially had a battery problem but CW Harrisburg, PA reimbursed us for battery replacement. Apart from a loose bolt/screw here or there, we are satisfied with our motor home.

You know they just robbed another one for that part..."Hey look I found it in this Axis!"

I just dropped off my 3 month old C-Max to the dealer for repairs--it isn't just RVs. This week the overhead console fell down on me! Funny thing is that my dealership is literally right across the street from the plant--if they need a part they can walk over there and grab it out of a bin! (yeah of course they can't do that..still has to come from the warehouse but its right there! LOL).

I am relieved that they found the problem and got it fixed. I thought they did the alignment but the 2 Ford repair centers that service rv's can't do it. I have to take it to San Antonio to another Ford shop. We pick it up tomorrow.

Lokisgirls2016- I talk to as many RV owners as I can when the opportunity presents itself. Unfortunately, the stories are very similar to yours when they start describing their experiences. Our 2016 Axis which we purchased in January needed an alignment when we took it for our first test drive. It was my fault that I didn't insist it get aligned before we made the purchase. Ended up paying for it myself rather than wait for a miracle from Thor. Also had the Saf-T-Plus stabilizer installed. Other than that, just a few minor trim issues, windshield washer nozzle was missing, handle outside the door was cracked.... Just noticed that corner molding in the bathroom came loose which I glued and clamped myself. I am thinking that there is now a problem with the ignition where the key is. Seems like when I started it last week, the key did not properly return to the ON position. It apparently caused the cameras not to work as well as the air conditioning.... Turned it off and back on (key) and it all worked fine. Now I am suspicious because I recall that the technician at the dealer got the key stuck in the ignition the day we picked it up. I suspect that was the start of the problem and it will have to be replaced.
