Yep, I had to take look at your location... your not in the rust belt.... What the heck? LOL.

My 27 year old jeep looks like 5 years old.... its never been driven on salty roads and the frame is still black. You Might find rust from the trail scraping the under frame parts.

Hey Chance...
If they pull that section of frame out straight: is that how they extend the wheelbase?

Well, they did do a Stretch C-141 years ago. Give it a shot.

That little bit of rust on frame doesn’t hurt anything enough to worry about. It’s not like rust on sheet metal that will perforate. Some steels form a rust layer that protects the rest — it only gets so bad and it’s mostly near surface. I don’t see any signs of deep rust on frame or suspension so not worried at all.

Anyway, it reminds me that many RV owners are often discussing how durable the engine and transmission may be, and whether it’s “bullet proof”, when it’s more likely that the coach itself will fall apart or become obsolete for other reasons.

Yep, you are right. I wasnt worried about rust I was just surprized you didnt live in the rust belt. The frame will out last most of the other components on the RV.

In the bowels of Ford's history you'll find a huge lawsuit many years ago where Ford got sued big time for frame issues on commercial trucks. They vowed to never, ever have a frame problem again...and they haven't. It's the strongest component of the entire chassis.

Thanks for letting us know that.
It sure sounds comforting; doesn't it?

Well, for me I decided in addition to driving very carefully (like I'm riding a motorcycle still) was to make sure I carry a complete history for medical purposes in the Rv. Name, DOB, where I live, insurance, allergies, all the major surgeries ...etc. I figured after all these years I got tired of remembering them in the Emergency room. Kinda hedging the bets so to speak. Oh yeah, figured I would do the same for the wife too. Took it to our doctors and they added some to it and it met thier approval. Careful driver, lots of insurance and medical papers, about as ready as we can be.

Curiously enough, this medication information idea started when we decided to leave our dog in a kennel for the day because we couldn't take her with us on the tour bus. So I figured if I have to carry copies of this info for our 'pet', why can't we do the same for us to speed up our waiting in a hospital? Heck, we even decided to have copies made for our car and luggage too.

Might work cept my list is nearly one page long now. It'd be a big tattoo for me. Wife's is nearly 2 pages. Guess we could both do a bar coded thing. Hope that's the part that don't get hurt though. Hope all the hospitals 'talk' to one another in Bar code too. I do know they all talk in ICD now and that's how I wrote my surgeries.

What's ICD? And I know the hospitals around here don't talk to each other inless that are on the same "network":

i.e:

Shands,
Mayo,
North Florida Regional, etc.

And a barcode is just a number. It has no information in it. It just links to a database entry in the appropriate system

International Code for Diseases and Disabilities. Never thought much about it (I could read Latin medical diagnoses in the Military before), until my wife and I were overseas and she had to have a spine operation there (M51.1). I had to convert the German into Latin, then got a lesson about this code, it's used internationally. Then I found out they started using it at all the hospitals in the US. About the bar code, all those dots and lines on the back of your driver's license. Like maybe they could put another another line in there for you the person? If not, then a seperate card you carry with just your name maybe?

Class A's don't need no stinking' bumper. Just because semi trucks have those nice heavy pieces of metal in front, and busses, and commercial trucks...just take a good hard look under your front wheel well...what do you see between you and oblivion?

Sure heavy wins out over light; simple physics. Unfortunately all that heavy is BEHIND you! To rephrase, you are BETWEEN that Heavy and that Light mass.
