Electrical issue

On our recent trip we found our ac kitchen outlet wan’t working. We have two outlets on the breaker. The second outlet works fine. On further examination when I test black and ground I get 122 volt. Nothing when I test white and ground. At the breaker I get 122v. Checked and tightened the wires on the bar. What else could I be missing?

You are not understanding how electric works. White and ground will never have voltage. Black and white and black and ground have voltage.

I can not tell by your description of problems BUT The GFI in the bathroom outlet controls any outlet within 6 feet of a water supply you may have 3 or 4 more outlets not working. Reset the GFI outlet in the bath. Test and rest button.

Gfi controls kitchen, bath, outside

Checked the gfi. doesn't seem to be a problem. tested and reset it. No changes. All outlets work fine except for the 1 kitchen dual outlet.

Check the outlet upstream from that one, the one that does work. The wires may not be connected that lead from there to the one that does not work.

you will need someone with a volt meter and electric knowledge to diagnose this.

Thanks! I will check the other outlets connected to the gfi and seek an electrician’s advice.

That is a standard outlet. It is controlled by a GFI Receptical. Is there power here? If there is power in and out the bathroom and not here then you have another GFI outlet someplace.

No power in this outlet but power in the bathroom and other outlets controlled by the bathroom gfi. The wires in this assembly are loose and it appears to be severely corroded. I’ll replace it for good measure. Is it possible the bad kitchen outlet is connected to this outlet?

I’m running out places to look for another gfi. I’ll check my storage compartments and maybe the generator area.

I appreciate your comments!

Yes the kitchen outlet can be connected to this outlet. It does need replaced. You may just have only one GFI. Any outlet you find with 2 sets of wires must have power in and power
out.

My coach (SOB) has an outside GFCI. I don’t think it has any other downstream outlets but could be. I’d be surprised if your outside outlets are not protected. I’ve noticed that most RV outlets are not standard hard wired outlets like the one in your picture. They are a much cheaper design the just clips on the uncut wires. It does not look like a very reliable system to me. Or safe, but I suppose it must meet the electrical code.

Remove a 1/2" of the gasket on the bottom side to allow the water to drain out or it will happen again. Old electricians trick. A very thin bead of caulk along the top under the plate will help also.
