Engine Died
I finally "got to use" my Good Sam Roadside Assistance I purchased years ago.
While traveling down the interstate the engine on my 2016 Miramar just died. I pulled to the shoulder and tried to restart. The tach would rev up like normal but as soon as I disengaged the starter it would go back to zero. My guess is the fuel pump.
It is now at the repair shop after being towed (3 hour wait) and hope to hear the diagnosis in a few days.
Just curious if anyone has experienced this and thoughts as to the cause.

Hard to SWAG without more info
Fuel filters?
No warning lights?
Milage?
Fuel level and history?
Codes?

No warning lights... The dash looked like it does when you first turn on the ignition... Nothing unusual.
Vehicle has been well maintained so no issues with filters.
Approximately 22000 miles.
Fuel tank was a little over half full.
As I said, I'm thinking fuel pump, fuse or computer issue. In all my years (70 of them) I've never had a vehicle just stop like that. A little unnerving. What would you do if there is no shoulder?

Drivers module, fuel pump. Scan codes if you can. Please keep us posted on the outcome.
Thank you

I have had several over the years on Diesel engines
Most were a fault in the power to the fuel relay
Couple were water in fuel
One was water sensor, later model
One was a filter
Don't discount filters until fuel flow is verified
Water separator look good when you drained it?
Cranks OK but donn't fire or smoke?

A Miramar is not a DP, it's a Ford F53 Gas chassis.
Could still be a fuel pump
Could tille be a fuel filter
Could also be a myriad of other possibilities best troubleshot by a competent mechanic as we have no other symptoms or ODBC codes.

Ours ate itself before we hit 2k miles on it. clogged oil ports and it warped 3 of the 4 cams in the engine.
Took 3 months to get new motor installed. Was a crappy day and experience!
Fastest our rig ever went was behind the tow truck going 85 mpg in PA!
Hopefully not as bad as we had it.

Yes... The Miramar is NOT a DP. Ford F53 with a V10.
I'm supposed to be notified in a couple of days with the diagnosis. I'll keep you posted.

Update
Just a quick update on my issue...I received a call this afternoon from the service center. He explained they went to move my coach into the shop, reinstalled the drive shaft and started it up with no problems.
They ran diagnostics and it showed no errors. They checked the fuel pump and it had no fluctuation in pressure. They test drove it about 15 miles with no issues. He said he believes it is the fuel pump modulator and that ours was the second motorhome this week that displayed the same problem...random shut down of fuel.
I'll post again once I get it back and let everyone know the final result and cost.

This is on a 2016 V10. As one of a 1/2 bazillion owners of the F53 with a V10 we are closely following your outcome. Please keep us posted

We’ll that’s interesting but not especially helpful for you. Did they replace the modulator? And what is a fuel pump modulator anyway?

Pretty sure he mean control module, but having said this it could be the fuel pump or module. As things heat up and depending on temp this is the beginning of the end for either of said components. Easiest thing to do is change the module first but who wants to be stuck on the road again if it's not? Best insurance would be to change both, and if I'm not mistaken I don't think there is a fuel filter on this model as there is a screen on the fuel pump in the gas tank. Either way good luck sir

Modulator? Control? I'm pretty sure the fuel pump is controlled by the ECU/ECM through a relay. My money is on an intermittent relay. Just change it, they're too cheap not to. That would eliminate that relay as a possible cause of the problem.

Sorry for the mispeak... It is the driver control module not modulator.
Based on a previous comment I had then also replace the relay.
I will pick it up next week after also getting the oil changed and having them reattach the rear sway bar that apparently was doing nothing after losing a bolt on one side.
I'll update fully including cost after I pick it up.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully this resolves that issue for you. Sometimes it's a crap shoot with intermittent problems.

Okay, I picked up the motorhome today and the bill was less than I expected. They replaced the "Control Unit Fuel Pump Module" ($46.82) and the "Relay" ($72.47). Diagnostic fees was $500 so the total for repair was $619.29.
Good Sam Insurance took care of the towing so I never even saw a bill.
All in all, I feel like I fared pretty well.

Glad you’re fixed up. Anymore it seems to always cost at least $600 to go to a dealer shop! $500 for diagnostics seems a bit steep though….

$620, 500 of which is diagnostics. I have no idea if that was high or average for work on a motorhome. Chasing an intermittent condition is extremely hard to chase down
Bottom line they got you up and running and if your satisfied
two
