Extra Speakers in ACE

The radio speakers in the ACE are located behind the driver above the slideout. In order to hear the CD's I have to turn the volume up so loud it blasts anyone in dinette. I was trying to connect a set of speakers that I could place in the corners of the front dash. I plugged into RCA plugs in back of radio but will not power speakers.

Anyone have a solution?

I have all my music on my phone. I bought a blue tooth speaker and keep it in the cup holder next to the driver seat. I can hear it but it is pretty quiet everywhere else. I also mute the speakers on the radio because there is noise/static from the especially from the rear ones which I think are a total waste.

No: RCA jacks provide "line level output" (a 1V peak-to-peak signal). If you want speakers from there you'd need an amplifier with its own volume control/setting.
Those jacks may have also been an input instead of an output (which radio do you have? The Axxera or the Jensen?)

I posted this in another thread, but it's easier to just do it again.

We have the Axxera that had another set of outputs that we could tap into. A SUPER audio shop made a box with two 4X6" oval speakers and covered it in the same type of vinyl that's on the dash. Couldn't be happier with it.

The little black rectangle above the radio is for our XM radio (The "thing" to the left of that is our tire monitor). The same audio shop did that install also. We take the radio out & use it in one of our cars when we're not in the motorhome.

I have the Axxera. No remote control from Dealer or Thor. CD will not work if in camera mode. I travel with electric bikes on rear and like to have rear camera on always. Could do that with my Thor Hurricane but not this thing. Was going to put a pair of speakers in each corner of dash.

Have you tried starting the CD in "normal" mode then switch to "camera on" mode? This is how I have done it and it works fine but you cannot adjust volume while in camera mode. Jim.

I have had CD playing and then switched to camera mode. CD shuts off. Once I get out of camera mode CD comes back on.

My experience with the camera mode is that it "trumps" anything else going on with the radio. I guess it wants you to pay attention to the camera (turning & backing up) than fiddling with the audio stuff. I can't turn the radio down when the camera's on.

Not sure about the ACE but on the Challenger when the camera is on the volume controls the volume from the rear camera microphone. If one is using the camera while driving the volume needs to be turned down to minimize road noise. Nothing like have a diesel exhaust brake amplified through the rear mic into the coach. Generally folks only make that mistake once.
