Frame less windows...anyone replace them?

2016 Thor Chateau 31E

The wife and I hate the front living area frame less windows.

They are noisy, the screens sucks, and they offer very little ventilation in the front of the coach...

I prefer the old sliding windows with screens.

Do they still make the old style? I'm ready to replace the frame less...

Anyone done this?

mac 'newer is not necessarily better...' gyvr

You can still get the "old-style" Windows.

You can easily modify the frame less windows to open wider. It takes less than 10 minutes per window. You will need a phillips screw driver, hack saw(or other cutting device) to cut the black plastic spacer between the window slide bars. You have to remove one screw on the upper portion of the window in order to slide the plastic slider space bar out from between the two slide bars. Be careful to only slide the window out of the track far enough to remove one bar slider and remove the entire black plastic spacer. Cut the black plastic slide bar spacer to the desired length(I cut mine in half). Then replace the cut slider spacer bar back into the track along with the slider arm and push the window back into place. Put the phillips screw back into position and you are done. You can open the frame less windows much wider. I did have to use a ladder to get to the windows. It was a very easy job. I believe there is a You Tube Video on it.

<https://www.rvwindows.com/> Please most RV windows are surrounded by 3/4" square tubing which is structural.
