2017 Challenger features?

Two questions for 2017 Challenger owners.

1- Do you have lights in your closets?

2- Do you have a swivel mount on your exterior TV?

We have neither in our coach but I have seen both in other 2017 Challengers. I have not found either listed anywhere as a feature of the Challenger. I'm just trying to determine if those are items we're supposed to have, or if they were added after our unit was made.

2016 and 2018 Challenger owners please let me know also if you have those.

Thank you!

Yes to both.

The exterior TV on ours has a nice mount that comes straight out, then swivels. It is very stiff, at first I didn’t think it even moved but I applied some steadily increasing force and was delighted to find it does. I think by design, it’s very stiff so it won’t move while driving.

Every closet (but not the cabinets in the kitchen or over the windshield) has a light.

2017 Challenger 37LX.

Thanks Mike! We had a discussion about the TV awhile back. The box ours sits in is decidedly different than yours. Mine looks exactly like a 2016.

Our RV was manufactured in 2016. We bought it in January of this year. It is definitely a 2017 because we have the 24,000lb chassis. it was 22K in 2016.

Ah, sorry. I knew I’d had the discussion before, but didn’t remember it was with you!

So, you don’t have the lights in any of your closets? That bites. Here is a solution I’ve found works great in several applications for me, both in the Challenger and at home. Inexpensive, batteries last a long time (years?). I have one in each bathroom in the RV, and one in my coat closet and “throne room” at home. One in my gun safe too! If my closets didn’t have lights already, I’d use these. Oh, and zero drain on your coach batteries is a bonus!

These little add-ons do a GREAT job, and if you load them with Lithium batteries: they'll probably outlast the motorhome!

Also Costco has some very bright LED lights that are switch controlled. I put three of them in our closet, switch (remote) is mounted on inside of closet door. The package came with, I believe, five lights, but three is more than sufficient to brightly light the closet. Our outside TV mount will extend and swivel.

Our ACE has lights in the closests but they are at the top so worthless for my DW. So we picked this up from Big Lots:

No training required.

I have added battery operated LED puck lights in two of the closets. Not thrilled with the light they put out. I like the idea of the motion sensor models though. The ones I bought have an on/off button.

I think Thor must have used up some leftover 2016 parts on our 2017. We also have a smaller skylight in the shower. That's not really a problem. I would like the closet lights and TV swivel mount, however. I know my husband can probably install them himself, but I'm sure he'd like to know if Thor should have done it first before I add them to his Honey-Do list.

We have lights in every closet except the one with washer/dryer hook-up. Outside TV is on a swivel mount.

I do think you should pursue the TV mount with Thor (direct, not through the dealer). It makes no sense to have a TV out there in a fixed position, unable to swivel towards your chairs or to minimize sun glare.

Our 2017 Challenger had one TV in our bedroom that was manufactured in Aug 2015. It was the only one in the RV that couldn't receive cable channels. Thor replaced it.

My 2017 37LX did not come with lights in the closet so I added LED puck lights. As for the exterior TV, we have no swivel TV mount, which is a pain to see sometimes. To add one, I think we will have to change our kitchen sink plumbing and the mount. If anyone has done it, please share info.

That's what we'll have to do also. We plan to replace that TV with a smart TV. When my husband gets around to it I'll take pics and share. Not sure when that might happen, though.
