freezing Ace 29.4

I have 2017 Ace 29.4 and my wife wants to camp in Michigan for Xmas and new year to visit with family.
Wondering if using heater full time will keep water and black and gray tank from freezing
Don't think this unit comes with heated pads for tanks

The heater only takes care of the Coach... what's underneath the Coach, is another story...

EDIT: I just looked up the 2018 specs for your rig, and the 29.4 is equipped with "enclosed and heated holding tanks."
It sounds as if you're good to go!

Winter camping in MI:
  • Leave the camper winterized--e.g. don't use the water system
  • Bring along bottles of the pink stuff
  • Use the pink stuff to flush the toilet (e.g. pour it in for your water)
  • For drinking water bring bottled water and leave it in the fridge
  • Bring lots of warm clothes
  • Use a small electric space heater to assist the furnace
  • before you arrive fill the propane tank
  • Shower elsewhere (or find a campground with shower facilities that are open--if near Frankenmuth the Frankenmuth Jellystone is open year round)

Check out gray and black tank are enclosed in bin where drain hookup is
Turn heater on and didn't seem no heat duct in enclosed area
Wonder how is this suppose to keep from freezing

My 27.1 ace has a small like 2" air duct sticking into the compartment. I assume the furnace will blow heat to it this way.

That sounds much better than the heat pads, and my tanks have.
(No protection at all; for any of the plumbing... )

If you will have access to power, you can also try the 100 watt light bulb in the wet bay. I don't know how the 29.2 grey and black drain lines are routed, but I recently discovered on my 30.1 that about 2 feet of the grey drain line is fully exposed to the outside and not contained in the wet bay. Crawl under the rig and verify that your lines aren't similarly exposed. Otherwise you may be protecting the tanks and having the drain lines freeze up. I don't know how flexible ABS is, but I wouldn't trust it to take a freeze up without cracking.

Note that if the drain lines are open to the tank (which they are) when the water freezes it will simply back up into the tank and not harm the pipe. Of course you won't be able to empty the tank until the ice plug is melted.

Wild Bill in the left hand side of my wet bay, right behind the water pipes that are coming down to feed the outdoor water / shower the air vent is coming down from above.

On my new 30.3 the dump bay is a pass through with the tanks running the full width of the coach. The heating duct dumps into the passenger side compartment and I guess the theory is that the air will circulate through the pass through to where the dump valves are.
