Stupid Question Maybe?

About six weeks ago, my wife and I purchased a 2023 Sequence 20K (on a 2021 Promaster 3500 chassis). We haven't had much chance to use it, and we're still trying to figure some of the features/quirks out.

For instance, the unit has speakers in the living area above the sofa/bed, and we haven't figured out what they are supposed to go to. They don't produce any sound when we use the TV or play a DVD, and they don't seem to produce any sound when the Pioneer car stereo unit is playing music. (The Pioneer unit itself does not have a fader function or anything that would shift the balance between those speakers and the ones built into the front of the van.)

I presume the speakers should work with one or the other. Is it possible that when Thor added the Pioneer unit, and, presumably, the speakers, they forgot to connect the speakers to anything?

My money is on Thor forgot to connect the speakers. You may want to purchase a wire tracer like the one in the post below and see if you can find where the problem is.

Have you checked to see if the TV menu has an external speaker option

Have you checked to see if the Pioneer has a speaker a/b option?

My guess is they are connected to the Pioneer and somewhere on the menu there is an a/b option.

Also, is there a radio in the bedroom area? If so check that as well.

You can always call Thor and ask them what they are connected to and how they operate. On all my rigs those speakers were always connected to the cab radio.

I'm pretty sure I did look for that, but I'll take another look.

It's a Class B with a sofa that turns into a bed. So no bedroom area or radio.

Thanks. I may end up giving that a try.

Speakers above couch are for dash stereo on our rig.

What pioneer head unit do you have? Model? I could probably help there?
It might have a front and rear channel set up where you can turn off the front or rear if you were say in a car with rear seat entertainment and didn’t want to hear it in front or the option of 2 audio sources with one on the front speakers and a different one in the rear. So not a fading option but an audio selection option if that makes sense.

That does make sense. Our unit is the Pioneer DMH-1500NEX. I'll take another look through the manual for it and see if it offers any clues. Thanks.

Pg 84 has the speaker adjustment and selecting the proper speaker mode is on Pg 11, where the whole system has to be reset.

EDIT: Whatever happened to a simple radio/controls...?
That thing has more adjustments than the Apollo series command modules.

I have a 23 Tellaro 20K similar to yours. Mine is on a 22 chassis and has the UConnect radio rather than the Pioneer. Fade/balance controls are on screen.

FWIW, and you want to search for disconnected wiring, the speakers are connected with about 400 inches of orange/orange black and green/green black 18 ga to a connector in the door pillar behind passenger seat. At least that is according to the wiring diagrams I have been able to get from Thor, and what I have seen on my van. See attached pic.

In my 2022 Thor Miramar 37.1, those speakers above the couch are connected to my in dash radio for music. There is a screen in the radio that allows me to either have all speakers on (front and couch) or to turn the rear speakers(couch) off and just have the front speakers active. Check your radio menu for that option.
