Gen-Turi exhaust redirection??

Anybody have any experience with one on an Axis with the exhaust out the rear?
I did try the search feature with no specific results.

Not sure what you're looking for but these devices direct exhaust up an over all the windows and work pretty much the same, regardless of the coach...or the exhaust pipe location. I bought one but have yet to use it. While my exhaust pipe is all the way up front behind the driver side front tire, a slight breeze sometimes blows the fumes back under the coach into the sitting area under the awning. I think these should be as standard an item, especially on gas generators, as the toilet inside.

I agree: they just sort of move the generator exhaust to the top of your RV.

Not sure of your coach setup but extend slide fully then setup the Genturi based on that. You may have to add a small horizontal extension. Genturi CS can probably help you with advice on how long you can run a horizontal pipe from the end of the exhaust pipe, before you turn it vertical. I would also run your plan by Onan CS and make sure you're not creating too much back pressure on the generator exhaust system with the additional extension(s).

possibly stupid question time...

for those that have the main engine exhaust come out the back of the RV like mine, why can't you get a exhaust shop to weld the generator exhaust to come out the main exhaust also?

I think vibration of the generator may be an issue. Back pressure might come into play as well. Not sure how that would work also, if you were driving down the road and using generator...engine exhaust into generator exhaust may overheat or cause excess pressure back into the generator. Otherwise...seems like a good plan.

I've thought the same thing... I personally think that they should be a permanent fixture, not even a temporary removable thing...either piped inside the wall, or just a stack going up the side or back. Properly designed it could be done safely and to look nice.

I'm not sure if I can help with the OP's question. I took my adapters to a muffler shop and they welded an angle "elbow" pipe, approx 30° maybe, to angle and extend the factory pipe so that I could clear the slide on my rig.

The pipe diameter is smaller than they are equipped to work with, so the thing turned out much heavier than I'd like and I'm not all that happy with it, but it works. I had to do a lot of filing and grinding to it after to get a better fit

The C's are mostly mounted up front, behind the driver tire area. His is an Axis, which I believe has the bed that pops out the back of the coach. I think his concern was exhaust fumes under or near the bed while sleeping. That would be OK for the Mother-In-Law but not the "Priceless Wife".

The DOT says that is illegal for manufacturers of motor homes to mix exhaust streams. Same restrictions on use of flexible steel sections in MC exhaust systems. Where and how exhaust streams exit the MCs is highly regulated by the DOT. These restrictions are the same as the EPA restrictions for pollutants for vehicle manufacturers. You can modify the exhaust but no reputable shop should.

My "Diesel-C" has the generator on the passenger side, and behind the rear axle. The exhaust crosses over, and exits under the left rear corner of the RV...
The main exhaust system exits out the right rear, and it sure would have seemed like an easy thing, for them to plumb the generator right into it...


EDIT: the post above mine was entered while I was still typing... It seems that the mystery has been solved!

My ACE has the generator exhaust out the rear. The Genturi cleared the rear bumper without a problem. Runs up the back (I use a couple suction cups and a bungee cord) and works well. Very common and highly recommended if you are going to be parked very close to others without power. I bought mine before my first trip to Talladega. Even with out, it It's not as bad to your neighbors with it exhausted out the back. Most set-ups blast the exhaust directly at your neighbors. I found it also helps divert the sound of the exhaust.
