2017 Thor Models

We were told not to buy the 2017 models as they were made during covid and were put together so fast many problems. We purchased a 2018 Thor Vegas and have had not but problems. All kinds of interior problems and now the generator is ruined because a bolt fell into the piston. The bunk bed does not want to go down and on an on.....We purchased the Compass insurance policy for interior and the engine policy for $10,500 and Compass tries to get out of covering anything and now they are only going to pay part of what it costs to get the generator fixed. Don't buy Compass you are wasting your money!

In what world does that make sense since Covid didn't happen until at least 3 years later?

How could a 2017 be manufactured during COVID when COVID didn’t break out in China until 2019?

I bought a 2020 built before the COVID pandemic issues.

Someone gave you some lousy advice.

Co-VID lock downs did not begin until late March 2019. By March 2019 Thor was likely gearing up for the 2020 models. I think someone was trying to upsell you!

States began the lockdowns in March of 2020, not 2019. I bought my 2020 Accolade September of 2019, 6 months before the lockdowns started. We were traveling as the lockdowns started in NC first (for us) and then VA.

Also, I had a factory service appointment for April 2020 which had to be rescheduled to August due to the factory shutdowns beginning in April and May.

Late 20 and 2021 were the real bad build times due to parts and labor.

Covid 19 emerged in China in late (November) 2019... didn't appear in the US until January 2020.

IMHO the quality of the build is pot luck. Maybe not with a $2m Prevost, but certainly with other brands. Thor, Forest River, WBGO, all have hit or miss problems from what I’ve read. One of the main issues is buyers taking their unit to a dealer for warranty work or service work and being willing to leave it for months at a time. Example. Vinyl floor stained. Let it sit at a dealer for 4 months and then complain about not getting to use it. Well a floor stain won’t keep you from using it. Sure, it’s under warranty and needs fixed. But it doesn’t have to sit on a dealers lot waiting for Thor to say ok. Or waiting for the replacement flooring.
