Questions about bed in Axis 25.2

We just picked up our new Axis 25.2. This is our first RV that has a "folding" bed (our last RV had 2 twins--similar to the 24.1) and I have a couple of questions.

1. The mattress seems to slide all over the place on the platform. What do people do to keep it in place?
2. We are planning on getting a mattress topper (nice latex memory foam that we have on all of the beds). The brand we purchase even has a short queen version. So, how well does that work with the folding bed? Do you have to anything special to keep it in place?
3. How the heck to you keep the bed made up when you fold it? Inquiring minds want to know.
4. Did you buy short queen sheets, or simply buy the regular sheets and tuck the excess?

Welcome to the forum! Now, take a deep breath and relax. None of this has to be a big deal. Here's my take on your questions, based on my experience with our 25.2.
1. Did you take the plastic wrapping off the mattress? That plastic will make it slippery. If you still have a problem, try some of that rubbery stuff for under rugs, or rubbery shelf liner under the mattress.
2. We use a foam topper that came with an elastic edge that goes over the mattress like a fitted bottom sheet. Your fitted sheet should hold that topper where it belongs. Still, our topper works toward the bottom of the bed, and must be re-positioned when we change the sheets.
3. With the topper in place, the mattress won't fold flat. Retracting the bed was a two person job until I attached an eye screw to each side and now a bungee holds the bed up until we are ready to unfold it.
4. We use standard queen sheets, and they don't fit tight, just tuck in at one end, the bottom. I expect not having those sheets tight would bother some people. (Insert serenity prayer here)
+We stored the OE bedspread and pillow covers. The replacement is sturdier, isn't slick like the original and we like the style better.

Thanks for the info an tips Mr Sunshine.

I am breathing and learning about the new coach. I've been using Ed's manual to learn where everything is the Axis.

We went ahead and ordered short queen sheets and the mattress pad. Now, I just have to wait for all of them to come in and see how much of bear it's going to be to fold up the bed!

We researched the Axis quite heavily before we bought. Each coach has its own idiosyncrasies. I'm still working through ones for the Axis' 25.2.

Folding rear mattress

We too are New at RV ownership. So far we love our Vegas. One of our biggest issues though is the folding mattress. The fold tends to hit just in the wrong place and the thin part of the mattress is where most of your body mass lies. I too, am looking for other options. Have considered storing the mattress and purchasing an air mattress and double sleeping bag. We can generally sleep about two nights before the back aches begin. Hubby has discovered a swim noodle placed between the fold helps a bit to keep the fold area from sagging so much under our hips.

Welcome. Our experience doesn't include much mattress sliding. It sometimes slides an inch or two fore and aft. We do use a topper and it folds nicely with the bed made up. Our bed folds and stays folded... We do remove the pillows when folding. We keep the bed made up when folded...does need to be touched up when unfolding. We use reg Queen sheets. We find the bed very comfortable. We love our little RV and it's bed.... But not the axerra radio. Btw...A bedroom radio tip...there is a brightness control on the raidio display... A door tip. We hung a shoe organizer on the bedroom door or some extra stuff and wife's shoes.

Which Vegas model do you have? I'm trying to figure out how your hips could be so far down to hit the fold. Ours hits between the hips and the knees. I stand about 6 foot and have to sleep with my head close to the wall, so my feet don't hang over.
All that said, you might try a foam topper to even out the load. Maybe our foam topper is keeping us from the issues you mentioned. My sleeping partner (Mrs S) likes a softer bed surface.
