You can try turning the switch back to LP again and wait to see if the problem continues. I think on ours the light comes on if the unit fails to light. If the gas has been turned off, the line may have air in it and it may have to be tried a couple of times until gas comes out so it will successfully light everytime.

You may have air in the line, that happen to me. I just had to keep turning on the water heater on LP and when the light came on saying that it wasn't working on LP, just turn it off for 5 minutes then try again. I think I had to do it around 8 times before the air got out of the lines.

I use the burners on the stove to bleed as much air out of the lines as possible. Seems to help especially when taking it out of storage and getting the frig. to light off a little more quickly.

Turn off the electric and run your hot water to lower the temperature in the hot water tank. The light on the "gas" switch only comes on when the temperature is low enough for the gas to light. You will normally only see it when you first turn on the gas switch.
