Turning the refrigerator off won't stop that; you would have to turn all the propane off at the tank, unless of course, the tank gets ruptured.

This forum is just like the other ones that I frequent: the original topic is just a rough suggestion, and then the game of "Telephone" starts up!

Refrigerator not working on Propane

Greg,

Picked up RV today and did some more checking, the lights in the storage area work when the Store/Use switch was in Use position. Not sure what other items would be working on 12 volts...

Bob,

The burning RV's was in reference to driving with Refrigerator running on propane while driving and pulling into gas station to fill up...

But do they work in the "Store" position? Thor has been known to wires those lights directly to the battery.

Other 12 VDC loads include:

Water Pump,
Furnace,
Interior fans (bathroom)
Interior lights

Does your water pump work without the generator running?

Beast thing is to get that voltmeter and start tracing your 12 VDC.

The water pump is 12 volt, no generator required.

Yep... All of these SHOULD work with Genny off / unplugged from shore and switch in USE... I'm guessing some of these won't be working either...

Normally true, but we are chasing a problem where the RV fridge only works with Genny/shore... So trying to find out what else is affected...

None of the above items work when Store/Use switch is in the Use position. I'm going to start chasing the 12vdc from the control panel.

Thank you for all your suggestions...

Refrigerator not working on Propane...

Wow... I was checking fuses in the front fuse box in the front left compartment, I found a small grey circuit protector that was out. I reset the black small button and everything started to work, I can't believe it...

Everything is working as designed, this is great!!!!

Once again I want to thank everyone for your suggestions, I really do appreciate it...

This has been a problem since I purchased the unit, I am the 2nd owner and never noticed the issue till I went camping with a friend and he asked why I was running my generator when I pulled into the camp ground. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You may have air in the line. To get it out you turn your switch to propane & back again. Keep it up & you should get your pilot light lit.

We have a Quantum purchased in California. The dealer tells me that in California, for safety reasons, I am supposed to (by law) run the generator while driving for the fridge operation. The fridge will run on propane without the generator on while driving which is what I had been doing. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? From what I am reading here is seems as if there are others that do not run the generator while driving and are just letting the fridge run off propane. Thoughts?

Tell the dealer to show you the California statue that says that.

Of course we are talking about California where they just passed a law usurping the First Amendment.

You might also ask him what all the RVers are supposed to do that have fridges that run off propane but don't have a generator?

Nope, just saying you can never tell about California; the land of fruits and nuts.

Any other state I would call total BS on that statement.

Now I'm disappointed: nothing says "you stink!", like a good low-down, mud-slinging, name-calling, foot-stomping, fist-shaking, red-faced, loud-voiced game of "My politics are better than yours!"
