Inverter Question

We have a 2024 ACE 29D, with a 1KW Inverter. Question is this: Which outlets are powered by the inverter? I checked the schematic, but other than the outside tv the other two do not seem to be powered. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Historically, a factory installed inverter would power any 120 VAC refrigerators as well as the TV outlet string (all 3 TVs).

Since you have a 12 VDC fridge the I would think a 1000 watt inverter would power the TV string and a few other convenient outlets.

So powering ONLY the outside TV makes no sense at all.

Time to get a little outlet tester and test all outlets when connected to SP (to verify they work).

Then disconnect from SP and test again. It's the only way you'll know for sure which ones are inverter powered in YOUR new coach.

Ted is correct. Traditionally Thor MC plant 750 (the manufacturer of your coach) inverter powers the TVs, the outside kitchen fridge and the video switching center and maybe a CPAP receptacle under the bed. To power a 15 amp duplex receptacle with a 1000 watt (8.3 amp) inverter is not a good idea. Ask any electrician and the will recommend a 2000 watt (16.7 amps) inverter, minimum. Secondly, you probably don't have the house battery bank to support more than a 500 watt draw from your batteries for more than a several hours.

I spent the time to review the schematics on the Thor site, and compared with my 2023 ACE 29D. I found that some wiring seems to be based on an “early” 2023 diagram that I found listed for a 2022. I suspect your 2024 has a slightly different diagram, or is close to the 2023 I’ve been using. On their diagram, outlets marked with an * are run off the inverter. For 2023, these are : bottom of master bed near power center, outside kitchen compartment, outside TV, cabinet in bedroom behind TV, main TV, video switching cabinet and the outlet by the front passenger seat.

My issue is that the main fridge outlet is NOT run off the inverter. On the 2022 schematic, it IS! I see in the Quick Start Manual for the Inverters, it mentions a 1K, 1.8K and 2K inverter. For the 1.8K and 2K, it lists the main refrigerator as being supplied power, however, the 1K does NOT mention the main fridge. Hopefully this helps.

A residential (120 VAC only) fridge is supplied power by the inverter. An absorption or DC fridge is not.

Our fridge is the 12 v model, not the residential model so that is not on the inverter (I don’t believe). When we were up at Thor, as long as the techs were working inside, I asked them to mark and identify the outlets on the inverter. Not we have little purple dots on the ones which are. They are the tv in the kitchen and bedroom, the outlet beneath the. Ed, and the outlet by the passenger seat.

2023 Thor Hurricane 29M Inverter recepticals

Good morning,
I just got my Thor back from a lengthy trip to the shop for warranty issues. I had only made one trip after purchasing in Dec went from Florida to New Hampshire and return. Put just under 4k miles. The RV went into the shop Jan 5 and we just got it back yesterday April 27th. I wrote up a rather lengthy message on the Thor forum last night but it didn’t submit. Will re-write later today. So my question.
The Specs show that there is an outlet that near the bed that runs of the inverter to power a CPAP - Well,, there are two outlets one set on each side of the bed. I tested them last night and they are not in fact powered. They do work when plugged in to shore power.

The Fridge is all electric - and runs off an inverter from what I understand. I was pretty surprised to find out yesterday - that while it was sitting in my yard not connected to power that all the lights, Fans, and fridge ran all day - and the solar maintained the batteries at full capacity till sundown - only then did it start to drop the batteries - I tested the AGS system and it worked perfectly..

So for my fellow Hurricane29m folks is their 2 inverters? or does one inverter power the Fridge and a 110 outlet?? Where is the inverter/inverters located.

Thanks in advance,
JD

One inverter only. Supposed to power the fridge, TVs and the bed outlet. Passes SP through when on SP or generator.

Yeah, nothing to the TV or outlets. Guess will have to address that on my next service trip.
Thanks

I'm not familiar with a Hurricane, but I took a quick look at the specs on the Thor site (for a 2024 model). Standard fridge is 12v and 1000w inverter is standard.

Again, not familiar with your model but a couple of questions. Is the inverter turned on? On my Class B there is a switch on the unit in addition to the control on the touch panel.

Also, may be a silly question, but did you check/reset any GFCI outlets?

Just a thought.

Mike

You may be on to the answer.

The 2023 Hurricane brochure lists a residential fridge for all models except the 29M which is simply listed as a 2 door mid-size unit. Factory specs from other sources list it's power as "electic/gas" - so an absorption fridge and NOT run by the inverter.

So the OP needs to research his fridge model AND check to see if his inverter is powered on.

Will have to take another look, the fridge works fine, the solar keeps the batteries charged all day. Have to check how long the battery lasts after sundown.

Thanks
