To expect someone to climb onto the bunk by standing on the table or the side of the booth is really a joke. This appears to be a liability when someone falls and breaks their neck because Thor didn't provide a ladder to access their own bunk... Once again in case Thor is listening.... THIS IS A POTENTIAL LIABILITY!

Good to see another new 27.1 owner here. Does yours have the inverter? I can't tell from the book whether we should have one or where it would be if we do.

I'm also a 27.1 owner and I had that same question... but it does not have an inverter. Or at least I haven't found it! It's on my list of things to look for on my next MH. A list that keeps getting longer with each outing.

Ladder for overhead bunk

My 2016 ACE 30.2 had a ladder and brackets. Curious about the inconsistency...

I wonder if it's a dealer add on..... where some dealers will take the initiative, and others dont

I am surprised CALOSHA or OSHA hasn't chimed in on this. Must wear a fall arrest if over 60" with safety netting, and bla bla bla, sorry Just waiting for it to come out.

My bet would be on one of two things. First 2015 vs 2016. Thor may have added the ladder for the 2016 model year.

Otherwise, it may have to do with the floor plan within the model 27 vs 30 foot models. There may be some "perceived" limitation within the 27 foot floor plan that results in the lack of a ladder.

Unfortunately Thor's manual and warranty state that an upgrade to future production runs doesn't entitle a current owner to the same upgrade.

Unless I am mistaken RV's do not have to comply with Occupational Safety standards.

This is probably the gray area between residential and RV building standards. You might want to contact RVIA and ask them if there are any standards that govern ladders for overhead bunks.

My ACE 2016 came with a ladder and has brackets. Ladder is stored under bed.
I negotiated a bunk ladder from the dealer as part of the deal, when they stopped coming down on the price....
they gave me one that looks just like this, loose
Stromberg Carlson RV Bunk Ladder - Aluminum - Black - 60" Tall Stromberg Carlson Enclosed Trailer Parts LA-460B
I cut it down for better fit, and had to jurry rig the mounting clips a bit, but it turned out ok.
Sorry can't find a picture to share.

I find it a shocker that it's not factory standard.
Nothing shocks me from Thor anymore!!!!!

I also asked the dealership and was told it did not come with one. Based on what I have read here...... Guess, I will have to go find one suitable.
