leaky toilet

On our thor four winds the toilet used to keep water at the bottom and now leaks out. My wife says that is when it started smelling,

It is the kind that has a round ball at bottom and you press on the lever to let out the junk and more water comes in. It used to keep the water at bottom but now it slowly leaks out.

I clean the rubber seal best I can since it could have stuff on it but that didn't help.

Any thoughts?

Try putting some Blue Dawn on the ball. Enough to go all the way around edge, let sit for couple minutes. Flush two or three times

The dish soap?

My wife has some Dawn but not blue.

Thanks I will try this. Does it soften the rubber seal or what?

I really don’t know why it works, I’ve never used anything except Blue Dawn, any liquid dish soap might work

Put soap in left for hours. Checked soap drained but when flushed a few times water stayed. Will check in morning.
Thanks

I have this problem too. Even replaced the original 310 toilet with the 320 model. I go in the RV about once a week. I'll try the blue dawn idea.

Left the toilet alone all night checked it this morning and the water was still there so it seems to be working. I will give it a few more days before declaring it fixed.

This has to be the easiest and cheapest fix ever.

Thanks KOLCB!!!!

BTW my wife said Dawn is known for its grease cleaning so maybe that is it.
