Mine works fine, and it has a wind sensor on it; it knows when to retract itself!

But you better watch out for gust of wind. Unless I’m out there using it mine is in. On nice days no worry.

Both of my large ones work fine,
They have sensors which work well also to retract as needed, takes some gust
The little entry way unit don't have the sensor but is stable in fairly high winds
If yorold school and want to leave them out and at a slant to all water to run they aren't your first choice

If a stray gust comes up: ANY awning should worry...

Agreed. Any awning could take a beating in high winds.

I have one that stays out 24/7 for 4 months. I dip one end. Both ends are then tied down. If I am warned about a possible windstorm approaching I will roll it up.

Mine also has the wind sensor, but if I know of pending winds, I do roll it up.

Mine has an adjustable wind sensor that is very pessimistic on its most sensitive setting - rolls up if it sees a tree branch sway across the park. But I generally only have mine out if I’m actually sitting under it.

I’m a little nervous to use my motor-driven awning (no wind sensor). When it’s fully extended, it frequently hesitates and stops when I first try to retract it. I have to rock it back and forth (extend/retract) a few times to get it to fully retract. I’m afraid it’s going to eventually get stuck in the extended position. Anybody else have this problem?

Depending on the brand there might be a manual retract feature and, as with slides, the time to figure out how to do it is on a nice day when you’ve got time. You’ll be glad you did when something fails on a rainy day when you need to be somewhere else. On my Freedom Elite the awning had real difficulty retracting on its own. Never actually failed but I worried about it. I found that it helped a lot to do it with shore power connected or the engine running. The little bit of extra voltage on the 12V system made the difference.

Mine pulled the front mount loos from the plate and duped to the front a lot. Keep an eye on the mounts on the plate. I bought a new one @ 135.00$

Most Carefree legless patio awnings are wired directly to the power center, so the automatic retraction system will work anytime the awning is deployed. Staking the awning or de flapping the awning will damage the retraction mechanism or brackets if the movement sensor is triggered. The correct installation of the Carefree patio awning wiring requires an on/off switch in addition to the in/out switch. Thor MC chooses to eliminate this switch as the typical owner will leave it off when the awning is extended and damage the awning assembly in gusty conditions.

I wish I was one with no issues. The rear arm broke on our 2016 Miramar on our first winter trip. We had a gust of all of 12mph take it out. The following year we were going down the road and the awning unrolled about a foot out, unbeknown to us. Had to have the front arm replaced. After the first time I never trusted that awning again. I don't have to worry about it anymore bcuz a tree came down on the mh in August and it's been totaled.
