Has anyone purchased an RV from this dealer in Alvarado TX? If so, how was the experience?

We purchased our 30.2 from them in April. Really don't have any pros or cons. There is a no haggle price and it doesn't change. Sales not motivated one way or the other. Purchase or don't seems to be their philosophy I guess. I do not think they went out of there way to check things and I was a dummy and should have been more prepared. They had our unit plugged in during pickup day and we did not check to make sure everything was working on the generator. Once we got home, we found that the transfer switch was not working. So straight into the shop for 6 weeks under warranty of course through Thor and not the dealer. Dealer should have found it before we left.

I will say this, I do not think you will get a better price than MHSRV, especially when they are moving or prior year units. But you might want to work with a dealer that adds a lifetime warranty such as Camper Clinic, but the sales price will be more.

If you search this forum you'll see lots of posts about experiences at MHSRV. They are a high volume dealer with a HUGE inventory which helped us tremendously in narrowing down our choice(s). They give you a golf cart and let you go (as opposed to Camping World where they assign a salesman to you just to let you look at the units); if you need a salesman they are everywhere and some are better than others. We are an hour away and made several trips, spending HOURS there before buying and we dealt with a few salesmen before we ended up buying. They weren't the cheapest in our case, but when we pointed that out they matched a price from another dealer. Don't let one salesman deter you away from them because they have a TON of them with varying experience and personalities.

That's a lot of good info. MHSRV said they have a program where we could spend the night in our new RV and go through everything and they would fix the next day...I've never owned an RV before so I guess I'll take them up on that. I

Yes, they have several covered pads with 30/50amp electric & water hookups and you can spend the night when you come to pick up your RV. We stayed a few hours and they fixed the issues we found during the walk-through while we waited. We opted to go home, but could have stayed overnight if we wanted to. After talking to different dealers around the country we found staying overnight isn't a given and some even charge extra to do a walk-through. We had one dealer say "Oh you don't want to spend the night around here. It's not a safe area." LOL

When you find a dealer like that RUN don't walk RUN as far away as you can, spend a couple more $$, but go somewhere else. That's the same guys that will swear you can tow that 35' rv with a Tacoma truck.

We bought our 2016 Challenger from MHSRV. We established the price over the phone, but I had shopped several dealers and no one else came close. They have stood behind their product. We drove through there on the way to our wintering quarters last December. We had a few issues, some more serious than others. They put us up for the night, and next morning went to work on the problems we had listed. Fixed a leak under the shower, replaced the wiper assembly, fixed an electrical problem, and recalibrated the leveling system. We were out by noon.

Consider Total Value in Elkhart, IN. Had a great pricing/prep/delivery experience there last month with our new class A.

One more thing about MSHRV, they have the largest selection in the US, over 160 acres, they literally are the largest.

And they are still building/adding more space. Just moved from Burleson and chanced to go by there from the back side--I thought the covered spaces were an RV park at first.
And Holiday World just opened up across the road and several more dealers are in the area.

Congrats and good luck when you pick up your new coach at Total Value RV. We bought our Axis from them 3 years ago and it was a pleasant experience. Don't think you have anything to worry about. They give a good walk through and will take care of any issues you might find on the PDI.

Good idea to stay there awhile to become familiar with the unit.

I was at MHSRV today, my opinion has not changed, super nice people. I asked sbout the size of the lot and inventory, WOW!!! As I said before, they have 160 acres that they currently use, they have a total of 460 acres! They currently have about 900 new units on order and a staff of over 250 people. I spoke to one of the service managers who was the fifth person hired when the dealership first opened, he took great pride in telling me all the new things going on, and there were a lot! The dealership takes good care of their employees, huge very nice break room with satellite tv, which I was invited to use, 4 microwaves, a full kitchen, on and on. And that was just one of many!

A dealership that does so much extra to take care of its employees shows to me they value people, and that includes customers!

MHSRV experience

We flew down to MHSRV to buy our 2017 Thor ACE in Sept of 2016. They met us at the airport and let us use an suv while we were there. They fixed a few problems we found with the coach and were very nice to deal with. They would not let us spend the night in the motorhome unless we actually signed the paperwork to buy it first. They did give us a bottle of wine to share that night though. One important thing I'll tell you is make sure everythng is working and in great shape before you buy and leave because once you leave that lot they will do NOTHING for you. They wont' return calls or emails. I needed a couple of plastic clips to keep part of the dash on and had to contact Thor myself and get them to send the clips directly to me. I'm STILL waiting for MHSRV to get back to me. Their purchase price and experience during purchase are both hard to beat. Service after the sale is nonexistent!

My experience at MHSRV has been totally opposite. A week after bring my coach home the rear AC quit working. I called MHSRV and they told me to bring it back and they would look at it. Since I was still working I asked if Saturday would be ok, they said sure, I wouldn't have to leave it, they would look at as soon as I arrived.

Got to MHSRV about 9a and within 10 min a tech was working on my coach. The problem was a faulty freeze sensor, they had it replaced and I was on my way in less than an hour!

I wanted to purchase a part that does not come on a Windsport, emphasis on wanted, not needed. I called Thor and they said I would have to go thru a dealer to get what I wanted. I called the parts department at MHSRV, explained what I wanted. The parts guy said rather than me driving all the way to the dealer he would have the parts shipped directly to me. I had the parts I wanted in just over a week. Like a lot of things, I guess it depends on who you talk to.

I prefer to talk to a live person and avoid emailing when ever possible. The customer service I have received at MHSRV has been great, your results may vary!

MHSRV reply

SuperD...Glad your experience was nice. I prefer to speak with people directly too, problem was when I called I was told they would ship part directly to me also, but it was not done. I called no less than 5 times and was told they would call me, they did not, called again and was told he would look into the hold-up and let me know....they did not. Talk is cheap, it's actions that count and there was none on their part as far as I can see. It's nice if you live close and can drop by, it takes me 4 days to drive there, that's a little different situation. When they did not return my calls is when I attempted email, nothing seemed to work. They could not have been nicer while we were in purchase mode, it seems they are a completely different company once you've bought and you do not live close.

Shifty, I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience. I've heard the owner is a very nice guy, believe his name is O'Bannon or something similar, try and either call or email him. As the owner I doubt O'Bannon would be very happy to have his customers ignored!!!

I got their price and brought it to camping world 3 miles from my house. They came within $500... Which is better than a trip to TX. Plus helps to deal with local dealer for warranty work. But beir prices are good.
