MPG Axis Vegas

Have now just over 8k on Odometer. Just returned from a round trip from Ventura to Tulsa via I 40 going and I 10 returning. Averaged 8 mpg with the jeep in tow. Good news!!! there are no more bugs in the Texas Panhandle I killed them all and they are on my the front of my unit as proof. .

How fast were you driving on Interstates? Just for MPG reference.

Hey Baddad,
We met earlier in the year at Corvina Beach at the Salton Sea. FYI, we got just under 9 mpg on our trip from SoCal to West Yellowstone to Montana and then south back to Socal. All the Best.

I try and drive about 60MPH on the freeway and can average 9.8 MPG. When I hit the mountains, my rate goes down to about 8.2 MPG.

I just got back to South Florida after towing racecar (open trailer 5500 to 6000 lbs). First stop was 9.2 mpg, 2nd 10.1 mpg, 3rd not counted due to generator use over 2 1/2 days, return trip was 8.8 towing at an average speed of 72.mph.

Intesting note on trip, the Vegas actually seems to handle better at 70 than 65 pulling trailer. 58 to 62 keeps rpm down, but does not handle as well. RV now has 6400 miles on it.

California I drive 55 - 60 with tow. Outside I was averaging 67 - 72 with tow. Lots of head winds this trip. I thought I posted this....anyway the octane in California is mandated min. of 87. Not sure if other states are the same (I think I saw 85). Wife pumps the gas. This could effect MPG.

Nice trip. Saw three Vegas/Axis going west on I40 in Northern Az. Had four couples look at unit on trip (rest stop/gas stations/campground). They really liked the size. I told them about the forum.

Thanks. I was wondering if Wranglers affect fuel economy more than most other toads of similar size because of 4X4 tires. As I recall they may have more rolling resistance.

We will find out next month towing a Jeep JK to AZ. Only 2k miles on "the nest" so far and without towing running the ginny we are getting 10 in the 62mph range.

I just noticed this the other day - my jeep tires are larger than Axis.
