Mudflap or tow protector

Which one offers best protection?

Pulling new jeep wrangler behind 29m which has a pretty high rear end - taller than the top of the jeeps bumper.

I like the simplicity of the large wide mudflap, but does it protect well? I would hate to pulverize brand new jeep's front end and windshield!

Yes the long mud rock flaps work good. It needs to go across from wheel to wheel. Keep about 4 inches off the ground.

We have been towing a 2019 Jeep Cheroke since it was new. We use a Roadmaster tow defender, a mesh that sits parallel to the ground over the tow bar between MH and the Cherokee. Over 10,000 miles without a mark on HER car! They run around $400 bucks on Amazoom.
It doesn't keep the road snot and dust off the car, I doubt any protector short of a mask will.

Where did you buy yours and were they easy to install? TIA

Check out Protect A Tow. Its a screen that goes from the back bottom of the coach to the front bottom of the towed car. We've used one for years.

I've heard that the grass skirt types will actually pick up rocks, something you don't want.

I go flapless (Magnatude SV34)…. Flat tow a JK Wrangler with a 2” lift with wider 33’ Ko2 A/T BFG’s. The grill and windshield don’t show excessive road chips.

I have never used a protector for any of the vehicles I have toad. I don't take my RV off the pavement at any speed that would be hazardous to the finish of my dinghy.

They don't use Chip Seal on the roads in Texas? Doesn't make any difference how easy you drive on a road that has been chip sealed recently the gravel flies up all over.

The full width flaps at the back are fine if you stay on nice roads. If you go over a bump the flap can hit the ground and actually throw up debris. I extended the factory rear tire mud flaps a couple of inches and have had no problems, even towing a tiny, low to the ground Spark.

We also use a Roadmaster tow defender, a mesh that sits parallel to the ground over the tow bar between MH. Works well. A full across mud flat or sweep will add additional air resistance. You won't feel that though.

If you want to know how much crap you're throwing, pull something white. First time I pulled my boat I learned a lesson. I now have Rock Tamer flaps on the hitch and it made a world of difference. Bought at CW and they had the best price I could find.

How about one of these.. anyone using? I think this and a rock guard full width mudflap would do the trick!

Yeah, they do the roads every now and then with tar and gravel then let the vehicles pound it in, but I still have had no issues with the front of any dinghy since my first motor home back in the 90s. Plus every motor home I have ever owned came equipped with mud flaps behind the rear wheels.

Towed vehicle shield

https://www.thorforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=36359&stc=1&d=16465329 56

This is the blue ox towed vehicle shield that we use. After spending $45000 on my Jeep I didn’t want it ruined by road debris. So far it has done an amazing job.
