There is only a small step between this and a hybrid RV using the hybrid powertrain for its A/C power.

I think I can pull it off using the triple alternator set up.
I also think I can have them installed for right at $3,000.
I think I can offset a fair chunk the 3k by selling the generator AND I'll gain the Gen space as storage.

I just need an excuse and some shop which has already done this at least once before.
My v10 uses under 7/10th gallons per hour at idle. Probably more with the alternators, but still within the same usage range as the generator.

and the BEV F-150 (which was only mentioned briefly during the F-150's launch video).

Note that none of the BEV pickups will be able to match the performance of a hybrid truck (yeah I said that): 700 miles of range on that hybrid F-150 (not towing, of course).

Jamie, as an initial step, it looks like their basic 2-kW system doesn’t require hybrid at all, just optional gas engine. A wild guess on my part is that maybe it doesn’t involve much more than dual alternators, higher-capacity battery bank, plus a 2-kW inverter. Who knows, maybe Ford will include 48V and lithium batteries. That would be cool.

I could see the base 2-kW system added as option on RV chassis if it doesn’t involve the drivetrain (not requiring hybrid).. That would allow powering an air conditioner while driving, or microwave or coffee maker without having to start a generator during a short break.

The 7,200-Watt option looks like it might be 30A 120/240V capability.

While I am currently NOT the biggest fan of hybrid or electric vehicles: there's o doubt that the technology for power production and storage is super-useful for RV applications.

Yeah so far that is the best looking BEV pickup IMHO (not sure what the F-150 BEV will look like; I'm sure it won't be too far off from the new 2021 F-150).

Every dealer has to install charging stations, and they'll have to take a certain number of "Battery Buggies" as part of their orders.

Yeah that has been in place since 2012 when the Focus Electric first came out. To be BEV certified each dealer must have at least two Level-2 chargers: one in the service bay and one publicly available. (A Level-2 charger is what runs off the 50A camper service and charges at about 10-20 miles/hour.)

New for the Mustang Mach-E is a lift for the battery. They roll it under the car when the car is up on a lift and use it to lower the battery out--the only way to work on the battery in the MME.

Note that you could run a Level-2 charger off the new F-150 with the 7.2kW! LOL (seems kind of counterproductive, however).

The new battery technology is interesting. I have been waiting to see if the technology evolves to the point of longer distance before the need to recharge in the autos. Right now it just doesn't seem to be there.

How far do you want to go? You can option out the Mach-E to go 300 miles on a charge.

That's the problem...
300 miles on a charge (under the best possible conditions); isn't going to cut it for a lot of us.
The closest charging stations to me are over 40 miles away.
I'd very much like to see 500 to 600 miles of "real-life" range on them.

I agree!
In Texas 300 miles might get you to the next county!
Personally would rather see more CNG vehicles, natural gas is in abundance.

If you are just using the car for around town that is one thing. 300 miles would be ok but if you want to use it to go cross country. That is a no go for me. When I drive my car instead of the motor home cross country I usually go 800 miles per day or more depending on my time frame. I also usually go cross country during the summer which means air conditioning needed which uses power. I look forward to the day when the technology catches up for the electric car.

Actually, for EV's, the infrastructure is advancing quite rapidly.

Electrify America (the company that was created out of VW's Dieselgate fiasco) is doubling Tesla's rate of installing "fast chargers" (these would be DCFC chargers that can be used by any non-Tesla vehicle).

At the moment I can drive my Bolt pretty much from my house in Michigan to anywhere on the Eastern seaboard all the way to Florida using fast chargers (only going about 150-180 miles on a charge).

I could even make it out to California with some creative planning.

There still are some areas of the country that are a "charging desert", however. Notably my back yard: Go North of Gaylord (mid-Michigan) and you won't find a place to charge at all--especially the UP.
