New owner has questions
I just took the family for my first weekend trip in my 2014 Windsport. Instead of contracting my dealer, I thought would ask the experts on this site.
Question 1: Since the temperature became rather cool at night, I turned the furnace on for the first time and let it run. By doing this, it caused my smoke alarm to go nuts for a short period of time several times during the night. I fanned the alarm to get it quiet and went back to the couch and watched TV. This happened several times. I would think that this normal since I do have a new motor coach? Any suggestions?
Question 2: I plugged in to the 50 amp receptacle when arriving at the campground. After getting all set up, I checked the control panel battery light on it only show 1/3 full. I would have expected this to show full since I am sure I had a solid hook up to shore power. Could this be a malfunction with those little red lights? Any help would be much appreciated.

Setting the alarm off is not uncommon the first couple times you run the heat, this should go away.
Do you have a voltmeter? Check the output. The battery should charge to full when plugged in. Something is off. Check all fuses, including ones to the battery and inverter (or is it converter, I always mix these two up).

The smoke alarm going off on a new unit, when using the furnace is normal. You are burning the oil of the meat parts in the unit. I have all ways (After the first time) Lite of the furnace when setting up in the drive way. I will also fire it up in Sept, to burn off the dust build up and make certain there are no Nest blocking the orfice As far as the charge light goes, if the battery is not fully charge than it will show at what level it thinks it is charged

I agree with Frank, that your furnace is probably burning off the residual oil left on from manufacture. Best to start it at home if possible, open the windows and let it run for awhile. If this doesn't do the trick, I suggest having it checked out for any leaks.
I have one of these plugged into an outlet in the camper at all times. You will be able to tell at a glance it the park is low on power.
Line Voltage Meter - $12.09
I also carry one of these to check that the park has things wired correctly. I plug this in at the post before connecting my camper.

Thanks for this thread, i have a new 2015 Hurricane, and although it did not set off the smoke alarm, every time the furnace is on, we get a little haze in the coach......glad to know this is normal!

I too occasionally experience a haze when I'm in the coach.
However, I think it may have something more to do with the bourbon or gin and tonic, than the furnace.

It only took about a day for it to clear up. By the way, I just had to replace the circuit board on the furnace. The blower would kick on, but the igniter would light. Working fine now.

I had the furnace issue too... spent Thanksgiving week camping. The first night it went off... so I put a shower cap over it (we use that when cooking on the stove... bacon or burgers tend to set it off every time ).
Second night happened again- shower capped it.
By the third night it had stopped. Of course, it was chilly in AZ so it ran on and off through the night the first couple of nights....
