No power to slide outs???

I have a 2015 Thor Hurricane 34E and I brought it home from the storage
lot yesterday parked and opened the bed slide out.

Today I went to open the big slide and no power, also no power to the
bedroom slide now.

Where do I start looking for a solution?

sounds like you have low or no coach battery power, or you've tripped a Bus fuse in the battery bay

I already checked the fuse above the house batteries.
Also the buss fuse above the chassis battery.

The coach interior lights work, the generator starts.

if you have Swintec electric motor slides, check the bay ceiling or wall for the controller for each(usually in a bay directly below the slide)... it may be blinking a code.

also, you can check your fuse box/ breaker box(end of the bed?), and see if the 12v fuse is blown.

I know on my ACE, if the engine is running, the slide does not work in either direction. Maybe?

I took a quick check of your model - you have Rapid Camp! Take a look at my thread here: http://www.thorforums.com/forums/f8/...king-5353.html. I'll bet your awnings and front bunk don't work either.

I included a temporary solution that you can use to bypass the Rapid Camp control module.

In my experience the toughest part was FINDING the module.

Anyway read through the post carefully and if you have questions PM me. Good Luck

Our friends just bought a gently used 2016 Challenger last week. They had it parked behind their house loading it for a couple days. He called me one morning and couldn't get the slides to move in. His jacks were down but he had his engine running. I just told him to shut off the engine and we hung up. He called back and to my surprise that didn't do it. Had him check the battery switch next to make sure it was in the "use" position and not the "store" position. It was in the "store" position. He switched it and the slides worked.

You have 2 circuit breakers in the battery bay.
A 50 amp near the front and a 100 amp way in the back behind all the cables

Phil, did you get the slides to work? I assume you are a happy camper and too busy driving on down to road to follow up on this post. Just curious what it was......

Thank you all for all the information you have sent me.

I have a mobile RV tech coming to the house later today to look at it.

What I did not think to add in the beginning is before this all started
I was running the generator while we were cleaning up inside and I
stepped outside and noticed smoke coming from one of the led light
strip under the right side headlights. I sprayed some Windex on it
and that ended the smoke. I really did not think too much about it
at the time.

The mobile rv tech came to the house last evening and checked
over my MH. The controller is not blinking unless you press the
button the 7 times then it goes crazy (at least 9 blinks). He checked
the fuses and did not find a problem.

He did not charge me for the visit so I gave him $20 for beer.

The controller for the bed over the drivers seat is the same part
number as the controller for the sides so I switched them, made
no difference.

This morning I ran the generator to charge up the batteries, first
checked the fluid levels of the batteries (OK) then put a volt meter
on each batter readings of 12.19 and 12.20

The batteries have a sticker date of 4/14 and I have owned it for 2
years so the batteries are about 3 years old.

Could it be as simple as the batteries are going bad???

I'd check battery voltage under load -- like while trying to operate slide.

If voltage stays the same, then it's not likely the batteries. I'd suspect something is not causing circuit to close.

On other hand if voltage drops significantly below the starting 12.2 Volts, then batteries may need replacement. In reality the primary problem may be due to something else, and the batteries may also be weak. It's not likely you have two problems at once, but it's possible. Without placing a load on batteries it's hard to tell just how good they really are.

I gave in this afternoon and took the MH to our local repair shop
(Parker RV & Marine).

They found the controller for the bedroom slide under the bed
buried under other stuff and they were able to manually move
the slide in. Now they are working on finding out what is causing
the problems.

I'll post the findings when I find out. We have rain/snow coming
so it will problem be next Mon or Tue.

Update:

Stopped by the RV shop yesterday and talked with the owner.

They found the problem, a burned up circuit board (the rapid
setup) and a couple of relay switch's.

We are now waiting for the Extended Warranty people to come
out and look plus the circuit board has to be built not available
in stock.

Hopefully the Extended Warranty will pay for the majority of the
costs minus our deductible.

That's a real bummer...any idea how long it will be down? Also, any thoughts on what may have caused this? I'd really like to avoid it.

We hope to have it back on the road in a couple of weeks.

Before this happed we had a led light on the front under the
headlight start smoking and the led lights on the front end
were staying on.

I feel that a extended warranty is worth having if you own a
motorhome or 5th wheel trailer.

Earlier this year we had a broken wire in a harness that did
not allow the house battery's to be recharged while driving.
After lots of hours of diagnostic it cost me $$$ to repair.

Have a similar issue in my 2014 Hurricane... Went to move it the 'last 5 miles' to our new home on Weds - and neither slide would come in...
Had voltage at the controller - but no response to switches. First thought was batteries - but they were fine... all other 12v working even when unplugged from shore... Popped on an external charger just to be sure - and it showed charged...

I don't believe I have the rapid camp (and awning came in fine which would also be an issue if a rapid camp problem... but the above cab bunk wouldn't work either.)

Tried a call to Coachnet - after an argument about my membership, they routed me to a tech.. Didn't find anything new - but suggested the manual retract - which from Schwintek is to unplug the motors and push...

Unplugged the motors from the bedroom slide - and 3 of us were able to push it in manually...
Tried the same with the living room slide - but 7 of us couldn't budge it (well - the manual says it could be difficult... )

Called Thor - and Steve walked through some diagnostics - again confirmed power to the controller... Check fuse 10 - supposed to be a 30A for the slides - well fuse 10 was 15amp.. fuse 11 was 30 - but both were ok... Suggested a 50a circuit breaker in the BCC next - couldn't locate it...

He was able to confirm the switch applies 12v to the 'EXT'end or 'RET'ract pins on the controller... OK - I can do that...
The slide controller is in a basement compartment with a light... Used a jumper wire to connect the light power to the 'RET' tab... The motor engaged briefly and stopped... hmmmmm...
They couldn't have wired it backwards now?? Applied 12v to the 'EXT' tab, and the slide rolled in...

Made the 5 mile ride to new home - and now have to find the cause... Do have an extended service plan - but the down time isn't in my schedule... so will do some digging this weekend first...

Ideas and locations to hunt welcome.

gmc - sounds like the motor is functional. That is good news. Now you need to follow power back to the switch to see where the circuit opens up. Not sure of your wiring schematic but I'd get one from Thor. That is the process I used to find out I had an open circuit through the fuse panel. The single point that ran to all of our Rapid Camp controlled operations is the Rapid Camp control module. Once you find the open circuit, the repair is focused. In my initial assessment, it sounds more like a switch or a relay.

Just my two cents.

Well it is been about 2 months and I just got the MH back from the
repair shop.

Long story short they found that the circuit board that controls the
slide outs, electric bed above drivers seat and the awning had shorted
out and burned out. Lippard does not stock this it had to be made
for us. All has now been repaired.

Now the REASON for all the problem, a water leak from the ROOF over
the bedroom slide out.

So now we will put a claim into our insurance company for a new roof
on a 2 yr old MH. :-(
