Omni/Magnitude likes and dislikes?

#1 - and HUGE issue - we cannot get hot water to our kitchen sink without running continuous hot water in our bath sink - there is no other way to get the tankless heater to "kick in". The most recent visit, CW says they contacted Thor who said to "not adjust the water temp at the kitchen faucet, to set the temp we desire on the heater and leave it there". We would LOVE to do that if we got hot water to the kitchen sink to begin with. Our coach has been back to them a minimum of six times for this - it's NEVER worked! Suggestions?

#2 - Our coach was received with no way to mount the privacy curtain - CW screwed in horribly ugly black Velcro circles all the way around the side walls and "horseshoe" with 3-4 different types of screws - looks terrible and we're not happy! Requested CW to take photos of what other Magnitudes/Omnis looked like with regard to privacy curtain attachments and replicate that. Hard to believe Thor would leave this type of design decision up to the RV companies to make on their own. Could some of you please post photos for us to see how yours looks?

Another minor "inconvenience" is the lack of comfort when sitting on the sofa - it is not deep seated enough. We are looking to install recliners / theater seats. Any pointers / information to share on this topic?

Reading about the fresh water input and drain in this post - are you saying that to add water to our fresh water tank, we have to dismantle the bed, then drag a hose into the coach to fill and drain it? That seems totally absurd! Could someone please clarify this process and specifically how you moved this process to the outside (where it should be IMHO).

Thank you!

I have a 2020 Magnitude SV34 we bought in October (yours is as well but the Ford chassis is a 2019). The 2020 model year was the first for the Magnitude and Omni Super C.

Let me try to answer / address your questions and issues

1. Hot Water - I would say you have a flow issue at the kitchen sink. Pressure and flow is key for the tankless water heater to work properly. I have had two coaches with it now and we live endless hot water. You need to have ~50 psi of water pressure coming into the coach (and your fresh water tank pump should deliver this as well). If you are not suing a pressure regulator for your city water, get one one Amazon. You also should only turn on hot water and do not mix cold when you want hot water..... especially to shower. That is what they meant by set the temperature to your desired temp.

I have had issues in two coaches now with construction debris in the water lines that restricted water flow. It can be small or large. Small pieces will accumulate at the faucet strainer / flow restrictor. You should remove it and make sure it is clean of any debris. I would also try the hot water to see if it works with the strainer / flow restrictor removed from the kitchen faucet.

If that does not do the trick, then you may want to remove the strainers on all the faucets and crank up the pressure to try and get the flow moving to push any debris out of your water lines. But only do one faucet at a time for max water flow.

You should also check the water filter that is under the bed as well as the fresh water tank pump strainer for debris as well.

If that does not solve the problem, I would pull out your garbage can and look under the sink to make sure there isn’t a kinked water line or leaking fitting.

2. Privacy Curtain - We never use them. We purchase the WeatherTech custom cab windshield and window coverings. They block out all light at night and block out all the suns heat during the day.

Our coach also has round black Velcro screws into the cab-over area to mount the stock curtain.

3. Fresh Water Drain - You fill the fresh water tank from the outside of the coach (passenger side upper rear area is where the cap and opening is located to fill the water tank). In order to drain the fresh water tank, you need to take the bed apart to get to the drain valve. We drain the fresh water tank after every trip so this was a hassle. I added an external drain valve so I only needed to take apart the bed when it is time to winterize.

Someone else on here installed an electric valve and a switch under the bed to drain the fresh water tank.

4. Sofa - We knew from past experience that the jack knife sofas are uncomfortable. We negotiated having the dealer replace the sofa with the optional theater seats when we bought our coach.

I installed RecPro Recliners in our last coach to replace the sofa. They were great. The Thor Theater Seats are better than the jack knife sofa but not as comfortable as the RecPro recliners..... but having them included in our deal was better than paying another $1000 for a set of RecPro’s.

What Judge said.
I have an XG32 and tomorrow I can post pics of the fresh water fill and of how the privacy curtain installs.
I like Judges suggestion of the Weather Tech windshield cover, I have one but need to get a new one, the one I have was for our previous E series cab and chassis and it does not fit the F series cab.

I echo what Judge said also. I installed a Motorized Ball Valve- 1" Stainless Steel Electrical Ball Valve with Full Port, 9-24V AC/DC and 3 Wire Setup by U.S. Solid from Amazon for $58 which allows my wife to drain the remaining fresh water while I am driving the last few miles home-allows most all the water to drain out and I don't have to worry about an outside valve freezing up. I hid the switch under the bedrail where it is still easily accessible but grandkids haven't found it and accidentally draining our water. I was going to order the Weathertech sunscreens but was told by the salesman that they wouldn't fit with the "gawk-squack" lane departure system mounted on the windshield. Instead I ordered a set from HeatShield. They come with suction cups to mount the side windows but you don't need them-all fit very snug and they fit/work great. When we bought our SV34 it had the jack-knife sofa & our deal included swapping out for the theatre seats. When Covid-19 hit it delayed that option and my dealer allowed me to order the RecPro Charles Collection | 67" Double Recliner RV Sofa & Console | RV Zero Wall Loveseat (electric) in toffee. Very comfortable & glad we got the electric version. One thing I hadn't considered is that they set on a 3" shelf which makes them a little taller but still very comfortable.

Just an FYI.....

The WeatherTech Window Shades work fine with the MobileEye system. No issue at all and they fit the F-500 windshield and windows perfectly.

The RecPro’s are the way to go. I figure I will install them some day once the Thor Theater Seats wear out.

Thank you, Judge!

We have a friend who is much more RV savvy we should be with over the 4th weekend and I will attempt to put him through the paces you and others have described here – thank you SO MUCH! Not sure why nobody from CW would have suggested or actually DONE any of this. If all else fails, we have provided our final no nonsense “fix it or else” list and are headed back for a final visit to CW on July 6 and I will ask them to do these things. Problem is, I believe I remember in the beginning of time, the water heater kicking on when using the water pump using the fresh water tank, but, even though we insisted they test this with “shore water”, I seriously doubt they ever have. More to follow on this – my fingers are so crossed!!

Regarding the WeatherTech cover, could you provide the model # – if anyone else knows and has used it successfully on their Ford F-550 chassis – please post. EDITED - We were actually looking for something similar to the ADCO one we had for our Mercedes chassis, diesel Thor Chateau, but ADCO said they don't make one for the F-550 chassis. :-(

We truly appreciate everyone’s comments and assistance here!!

Unfortunately, your dealer experience is all too common with Camping World as well as many other dealers.

When I bought my first coach I was highly frustrated with the lack of quality and the dealer's ambivalence and lack of knowledge and experience with the coaches they sell.

This forum helped me understand this very typical and to take it in stride and deal with as much as I can on my own and enjoy my coach.

Fortunately I am very capable and mechanically inclined and I can fix, modify and upgrade may things myself. This forum has been priceless in providing knowledge and support if I couldn't figure something out on my own.

Thor Customer Service has been very good and why I have stuck with them. They have sent me parts under warranty for two different coaches now so I could make my own repairs in many cases and they have even reimbursed me when I bought a part on my own to fix a warranty issue.

I would make one recommendation.....

If Camping World does not fix things to your satisfaction or they can not resolve a problem, contact Thor and politely explain the situation. Then ask them to make you an appointment with the Thor Factory Service Center in Wakarusa, IN. I see you live in Texas but it would be well worth the trip.

All they do is fix Thor products. They know the coaches inside and out and where they are prone to have issues. They often they fix things better than they were when it came off the assembly line. They are good people and wonderful to work with as well. They also have an overnight area with full hookups so you can stay in your coach overnight while they work on it during the day.

It can take several weeks to get an appointment or even longer. As long as you are under warranty when you make the appointment, they will cover it under warranty even if your appointment is after your warranty expires.

One other thought on your kitchen sink hot water issue. The sink uses flexible water lines to connect it to the main PEX water lines. I believe there is a 90 degree elbow with a fitting those flexible lines connect to. If there is a decent size piece of debris stuck in the elbow, that could cause a flow issue that would impact the hot water.

If you have good hot water at the bathroom sink, shower and outdoor kitchen, it definitely points to a flow issue in the plumbing at the link and the faucet itself.

Thor Omni vs Thor Magnitude?

I am currently under contract to buy a 2021 Thor Mag SV34...List is 220k, they dropped to 174k & now I have them down to 160k plus 6k for a 5 year 3 package warranty. So total of 166k OTD.
My issue is that the slide track & awning have issues that need parts replaced, The parts are on order but I need the coach this coming week, they are going to send the parts once received to So Cal to another shop that will do the repairs...
Would anyone else do this deal at the prices & issues all ready? Problem is there are no other Mag SV35 4x4 within 500 miles of Spokane WA.
AppleWay RV has a Thor Omni XG32 but its a little smaller with the queen bed & sofa chairs instead of the loveseat, everything else looks comparable.
They are asking $179,995
Which is better Omni or Magnitude? Or is it just the name?

I have a 2020 Magnitude SV34. I might consider the deal if you were closer to the Thor factory service center in Wakarusa. I trust very few dealers with major repairs.

The awning doesn’t bother me too much but the slide does. This full slide wall is big and heavy. It needs to be aligned perfectly. I’m not sure the extent of the track issue but I would not buy any coach if the slide was not working properly.... especially this slide.

The other challange is while another deaer will honor warranty work, they can put you to the back of the line for the repair and it could be months because you did not buy the coach from them.

I am 6 hours from the factory service center and use them for major repairs. I might consider the deal if I had Thor doing it and I knew the repair would be done right.

Knowing what I know now about these coaches and dealers after buying two new coaches in the past five years, I doubt I would do this deal if everything wasn’t fixed before I signed the papers.

If you do that deal with the slide issues you will. own every problem on that rig and have nobody to blame but yourself and don't look for sympathy from anyone else. Sorry, but I'm not going to sugar coat something.

Walk and wait. If I remember correctly the Magnitude 35 is had to live in with the slide retracted which is one reason we walked away from the Magnitude Omnio altogether and went with the Accolade.

I agree with Dave.

They are looking for a sucker to take this one off their hands.

Once you walk out the door and have paid your money they will move on to the next deal and you are stuck with an already malfunctioning unit before you even have it a day.

I had a flooring issue which kept me from buying the Magnitude. Got down to the dealer after an 8 hour drive to find out the floor was screwed up big time.

It was a Saturday night when I arrived and of course they called me just before they closed. No way anyone would stay late and/or come in for a few minutes on a Sunday to let me see it.

In addition to fuel and time it cost me two nights of lodging.

Bottom line: Come Monday morning they had the coach "ready" with some lame patch job on the floor. It was really bad. I walked and waited.

Ended up buying a Renegade Valencia instead and very glad I did.

My advice: Do what I did. Just walk away.

OP doesn’t really say what’s wrong with the slide track. If you’ve got a good repair shop that is approved to do warranty work or if you can go to the factory service center before the warranty is up it might be an opportunity to save some money. You might have to live with owning it for a while without using the slide depending on what’s actually wrong with it but I’d not automatically walk away. Not having been in the market I can’t tell if it’s a good price or not. I’d sure not accept it at the same price as an undamaged specimen.

Did you have to run the cable from the antenna or did you find one when you pulled the face plate off to change it? I am trying to hook my satellite receiver up but can't find the cable. The faceplate only has the antenna booster button. I am hoping I dont have to run a seperate cable.

Front vent power

I tapped off the winegard power and brought the wires over on the roof and covered them with Eternabond tape.

A/C issues?

We just purchased a new Omni XG32. It has 2 air conditioners but neither seems to cool down the rig. Neither A/C has cool air coming out of it. We tried setting the temperature at 85 degrees and it was 95 outside at the time. We let it run for about a half hour, and then stepped the temps down 5 degrees. However, the outside temp had gone up as well. In any event, our rig never got comfortable and only barely tolerable. I realize the temperatures are high in the West right now, but our old rig didn't have any trouble handling high temperatures. Any suggestions?

I have a 2020 Magnitude SV34 so I have some experience with the Omni / Magnitude.

First, an A/C unit will cool the ambient air temperature 15 - 20 degrees. If the air in the coach would get to 90 degrees, then realistically 75 is about as cold as it will get.

If you wait until the inside temps get over 85 degrees, then it can be a battle to get the temps down. You need to start cooling early in the day when the temps are at their coolest. You can expect the A/C units to run all day without shuting off in hot conditions.

You also want to purchase the Weather Tech Full Cab Kit to block out and reflect the sun for the cab..... https://www.weathertech.com/ford/202...w/fixed-glass/

Then you want the blinds down. I even use these in my vents as well....

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There are many threads about improving air conditioner performance you can and should read.

Here is what I have done to get the most performance possible out of the units...

- I used Frost King adhesive insulation and covered the evaporator box on the roof for both units. I also used pipe insulation on the cold return pipe from the compressor.

- Remove the vents frrom the ceiling and cut the jagged foam insulation in the ceiling to improve airflow.

- Use spray foam insulation in the ceiling at the front and rear vents to prevent cold air going into empty voids in the ceiling at the front and rear cap.

- Remove the inside covers of both units and check that the plenum divider is properly centered and seal around it with duct tape or aluminum tape. Many people find the plenum divider loose or not installed properly and then cold air can get sucked back up into the evaporator.

Or you can install the RVAir Flow System https://rvairflow.com/collections/al...irflow-coleman

- Make sure the freeze protecton sensor is inserted into the evaporator coil about 1/3 of the way up from the ceiling. If it is not inserted into the coils, then it can allow the evaporator coils to freeze over and block cold air flow.

I can keep my coach fairly comfortable in most circumstances following the above guildeline.

Did you just use the standard spray foam or any particular type?
