Onan 5.5hgjab-1038k

I just picked up my RV from repair and noticed my generator hours is now 13345.5 hours. I have never ran my gen for 556 days. I remember it was 485 hours. How do I prove my meter was swapped out? Is there a meter on my generator?
Thank you

Is there a supplier to replace this hour meter if it is broke.

That is interesting.... I would highly suspect the repair shop swapped it. Is the repair shop a RV dealer, then I would suspect even more so. They would gain if they had a unit with the high hours on the meter to "turn back the clock" for more value.
How do I prove my meter was swapped out?
The only way I can think of is to approach the repair manager and explain the situation, then they can pull the generator remote panel and have a look to see if there is dust (or lack of) on the back of the meter, all with witnesses around.
I checked the schematic and the hourmeter is only powered from the A1 Control board as is the voltage meter (do you have that too?) when in the "Run" situation. Could be a glitch in the control board, does the unit run fine?
Should be easy to find a Cummins replacement.

There are other things that might have happened such as a short circuit to the meter causing it to advance. Most hour meters advance when voltage is applied.

I seriously doubt a reputable shop would swap out your meter. They could buy one with zero hours for a couple dollars.

Here is a link to a replacement control board for your unit.

Call the company and ask them if it is possible the board or hourmeter could be at fault.

What did they repair?

I actually have two meters on my 5500. The simple OEM one likely what you have and the one on my Onan Ec-30 Controller. The latter can be user set to a tenth of a hour so they are both in sync.

I would just buy new meter. If you want it back to 485 set it on a power source on a bench until it catches up ( 20 days or so )
