Hello all. Really appreciate the comments and suggestions to help over the weekend. Long story short is that I was able to grab a few fellow racers at the track to help me push the wall in prior to leaving to head home. My biggest concern was getting my family home safe, which we were able to do. Drove it nice and slow home just in case and the coach will be headed into service later this week to properly diagnose and repair the issue. A fellow member suggested that I look into the Vroom system which I will now be doing. Appreciate y'all!

I just had this same issue. The manual for this system says that you can press the button 6 times and hold it on the 7th press until the lights blink. You should be able to bring the slide back in then. It worked for me. Good luck!!!!

Appreciate the help, this was something that another poster mentioned and we did that. It resulted in a "Code 9", something associated with a GRND fault. We were still unable to get it to come in, it felt like something was stuck in the gears of the system as the fixed wall would bend outwards when we extended it, and bend in, when we retracted it. It's at the shop now...awaiting the bad news. Thanks for the note!

That code 9 has been on my unit for three years, all its life.
No trauma associated with it so I haven't bothered to chase it down.

Putting the Schwintek In-Wall slide's controller into Emergency Override, deletes all of the safety features of the controller. This can allow the slide to cock, wedge, jam or to burnout a motor. It should be used only an emergency when the slide cannot be moved into the travel position. The slide should not be put out again until the cause of the slide's problem is corrected.
I like to use the "Rapid Camp" remote to put the slides out. Since we travel with cats, it is best to make sure the slide clear of obstructions including the cats and cat toys are sequestered in the bathroom. It is not uncommon to find a "rattle mouse" under the slide. Next, I go outside and make sure the topper is clear. I have had the topper unfurl when traveling. When the spring retracts the topper, it will bend the brackets and jam the topper against the slide. As the slide opens, I stand to the side and listen for any unusual noises or the motor struggling. I do the same when retracting retracting the slides. As has been said, hold down the slide's movement button for about 5 seconds after the slide is completely out or in. This stalls the motors and the controller re-syncs after the motors have stalled for one to two second.

I wipe the seals down with 303 twice a year and lubricate the gib and shoe with PFTE twice a year.

Slide out won’t work

We have a 2016 F34 Thor Hurricane and have had several issues with it. Just spent $5000 at Camping World to fix it and first time out it wouldn’t go out. Had to force it out and then get 3 people to shove it back in while I worked the button inside. The covering on the furniture is deteriorating and it will cost us a fortune have it recovered. We are at a loss as we bought this motorhome to travel around the country. Very disappointed and will never buy another one.

When did you buy it?

For $5K you could have been Vroomed
2016 model year fabric deterioration is a well document issue among all MH brands.

First post in almost 5 years? Where have you been?

As ACE said.... you should have done a little research before spending $5000 throwing good money after the lousy Schwintek Slide Mechanism. I replaced the Schwintek slide with the Vroom Slide System last October for $2500 and could not be happier. I fully expect not to have another major slide issue again.

As far as the furniture... all RV furniture is cheap (unless you are spending well over $1M for a coach). Many people end up upgrading their furniture once it starts to show signs of giving up the ghost.

As much as all of us would love to have an RV with the quality and reliability of an automobile, that is not reality in this space.

You need to do thorough research.... that's what this site is all about. Then do as may repairs and upgrades as you can on your own and take it in stride. Then when / if a major issue arises, you deal with an expert (like a Vroom) and not a dealer. If you can't live with that approach, you might be better served looking for something other than RV'ing.

Good Luck!

Fixed.

Well, the good news is that the coach is now fixed, the bad news is that it cost $3K+ to get a new slide system installed. Thankfully I had an extended warranty on the coach which saved 2/3rds of the cost but the repair facility was less than enthusiastic that this repair would last long. Their primary complaint is that the full wall slide is just too heavy for the Schwintek system. They're begging me to use slide supports - the consensus on this forum is that it's a bad idea and I tend to agree. A shame really...such a great coach but has me questioning the purchase a little over 3 months after we took delivery.

The good news as I said is she'll be back on the road next week. More to come!

You should have worked with your warranty company to see if they would have covered replacing the Schwintek slide mechanism with the Vroom Slide System.

I have said many times it makes no sense to spend thousands of dollars fixing replacing the Schwintek mechanism with the Schwintek mechanism. It will very likely happen again..... and when you're on a trip, ruining your plans.

For that money the Vroom slide system could be installed and you would never have to worry about it again.

Thanks for the additional info. I had to use it in an emergency situation as my slide was stuck out. Still in the shop waiting on parts to get fixed. But, you definitely provided some good advice.

I did - they wouldn't budge! I sent them videos, I sent them testimonials, I even offered to pay 50% of the cost based on your earlier review and assessment of the system. They would not agree to it. I told them that I look forward to speaking again to them next year about a similar $3K repair bill on the existing system

Well-played!

They will be sorry when you file a claim in a year or so for the same problem.... then you can tell them "I told you so!"

It is a shame that common sense is far gone it may never be seen again.

I wonder how much warranty companies have to spend fixing failed Schwintek slide mechanisms and then how many times they had to pay to repair the same slide more than once?
