Power cord for Freedom Elite

I had a 30 amp outlet installed on my carport, but when we went to put a shed up for our Freedom Elite it couldn't go where we had planned due to utility lines. I have a 30 amp extension cord, but it doesn't seem to work. When I jiggle them at the connection I hear the popping, so I know power is getting through the cord. Any ideas? I know the manufacturer recommends not using extension cords, but I find it hard to believe nobody ever needs to use an extension cord. I looked into replacing the entire power cord with a longer one, but I had to spend the extra money if I don't have to.

Sounds like a bad connection. You should at a minimum replace connectors until you get a solid and consistent connection.

30 amp extension cord is no problem. As stated it sounds like loose connections. Is it an RV extension cord or a flat standard cord using an adapter?.

It is an actual RV extension cord that I had from a previous bumper trailer. Perhaps I just need a new cord.

Look at the connections for any signs of heating. Do the straight blades show any sign of arching? Any plastic show signs of melting? If the plugs have screws take it apart have have a look inside.

It sounds as if your cord may have simply been "used up".
I'd replace it.

I inspected it and didn't see any damage, but I used a brush and gave it a good cleaning, and it is working now. Thanks to all!

Must have been just a "crudded-up" connector...
Glad to hear that you got it working!
