Public Water

Today will be our first day out in the RV world. I will be using municipal water for the first time. I have a 2018 Thor Vegas. My question is when I connect to the fresh water supply do I need to adjust anything in the on demand hot water heater. I will be using a pressure reducer and in line water filter.

I know that the pump must be turned off but do I do anything else. Any help would be appreciated.

Also where do I find the fresh water drain valve on this unit?????

Thank you in advance. Jim

Welcome to the forum!
Hook up the hose, and that's about it...
My tankless system never missed a beat; when I tied in to the City water.

How much and what kind of "pressure reducer" will you be using? It is possible that may reduce the pressure to such an extent that the on demand heater doesn't work.

Which model Vegas do you have?

Oh and welcome to the forums.

For the record: I use a 50 psi reducer, and it works perfectly.
(I keep a 40 psi version in the bay as well: I've yet to give it a try...)

Bob Thank you. You were correct it worked great. Easier than I thought. Any chance that you know where the fresh water drain is?

Which Vegas model do you have? If its the 24.1 the fresh water drain is right next to the tank underneath the passenger side rear bed--you have to remove some screws holding the bed panel down.

Look at the very bottom of this pic you see a valve (and part of another). That is the drain valve on a 24.1 (the top of the pic is towards the front of the RV).

Should I make an adjustment so this can be easily located from underneath the motor home? How often if ever do you drain the fresh water tank?

It is far easier to get to from inside. In fact there already is an access panel for it; the base of the bed.

This is not a regulator it's a restrictor & restricts the flow regardless of actual pressure. I would recommend tossing it

and getting this, it's a regulator.
It usually comes preset at 55 psi which means anything more It will regulate the pressure to 55, anything less it will not affect the flow, but will not increase low pressure.
The majority of the parks/campgrounds we've been to have 35-40 psi water pressure which is very low then add the restrictor restricting the flow & it's even worse. But we've been to others with 80-100 psi & I would not rely on that restrictor to prevent over pressuring the system.
There are 2 items I ALWAYS connect regardless where we are, #1 water pressure "regulator" & #2 surge protector/ems.
Just my .02 cents.

Agree except I always have a spare 50 psi regulator. I have left a couple regulators still attached at the RV park.

Fresh water

We also have a 2018 Vegas and finally found the fresh water tank under our couch which is where our drain valve was. No one seemed to know that

Rather than use a pressure reducer of any kind I check the pressure first with a gauge, anything less than 65psi and I don’t use a reducer at all. You can buy a thread-on pressure gauge like this at Lowe’s or on Amazon for about $10.
