Ace wall material

I wrote Thor twice and never got an answer to a simple question. Does Thor use wood in the outer walls? I have a Coachman Leperchaun owner that said the construction in their coach was superior because the wall were Azdel or something like that and contained no wood. Just asking.:

According to the 2015 ace brochure the roof and sidewalks are Lauan on the exterior under the fiberglass.

Here's the scoop on Coachman's Azdel.

From the sound of the name, one would think it is a medical condition where one develops a valley on their butt. No wait, we already have one ,so it must be something else.

P.S. They tell you how awful it is to have wood in your roof or wall. If you look a bit lower, they brag about two layers of luan in the floor.

I guessing the plan is to use the Azdell to safely channel the water to the floor where it can rot in peace.

yes luan is a thin wood.
I was on the fence about purchasing a Coachman Mirada verses a Thor Challenger because of the Azdel verses wood issue. Azdel is fairly new to the RV use market (compared to luan) and there is no good history on its longevity. Plus the Coachmen Mirada seemed a very cheaply made motorhome. Nexus uses Azdel. The key with any RV, keep it covered all the time out of the sun.

I realize what you are saying. However, enjoying a recreational vehicle out of doors (the reason most people buy one) doesn't fit well with keeping it covered all the time out of the sun.

Here is nearly everything you would want to know about Luan plywood.
