My 5er came with a wrench & a filter, thinking it's a spare filter til I decide it's time to change it, it wasn't a spare, it was the one that should've been installed.
Others had the same "spare" filter & worse yet some thought they had "spare" vacuum cleaner bags, fortunately they did install mine.
Moral is; DON'T take your dealers word for ANYTHING!!

The water filter is directly below the drain in a round hard thick plastic container. I know this because my first winterizing i didnt know it was there and the freeze cracked the container.

On my 31E the water filter is under the bed near the freshwater tank. I opened it up and there was no filter element installed. The RV came with 2 tools and 2 filter elements so I installed one.

Mine was behind the back wall behind a drawer. Went to open it and it popped off the wood (held with 1/2 screws) so I bypassed that and moved it into a cool box that holds all my water items. Click image for larger version
