What would you do?
Just packed the 25 ft. Thor Citation Class C motorhome to head to Gulf Shores, AL (5 Hrs) trip one way. Left home & around 5 miles later three idiot lights appeared on the Diesel Sprinter dashboard.
The three lights were the Acceleration Skid Control (ASR), Anti-Locking Braking System (ABS), & the Electronic Stability Program. (see picture below.)The vehicle drove ok with less acceleration.. Would you return home & forfeit cancellation fees or would you continue the journey? Try to understand if I made the correct decision. Also, Is there a cheaper place to get Mercedes Benz work done besides the expensive dealer?

I’d continue my trip. You have a sensor out of whack. There are a couple that could do that.
Is your steering wheel straight as you are going down the road? Any pull to one side or the other ?

Those all have to do with ABS. I'd carry on and troubleshoot later. Probably just a wheel sensor.

My wife’s car has the Check Engine light and ABS light come on all the time. I would take it in right away. The shop we’ve used for years never found anything wrong. The Check Engine light goes off and on, we just ignore it. The ABS was a sending sensor. I don’t know what ARS is.... but if was me I would keep going and see what happens.

I’d take out my OBD2 reader and pull the code(s).
Then i’d search it on the GOOGLE
Only then would I decide what to do. That is, there’s probably a Utube on what it is and how to fix

I would NEVER take a chance with any warning light that involves the braking system...

I would head back home and pull out my OBD11 scan to find the codes and fix it before proceeding.

Big Foot
No pull to left or right.
Another consideration was rainy weather.

Presumably the steering wheel is straight ahead as you are driving straight down the road. The reason I ask is that most vehicles nowadays read steering angle and compare to wheel speed and yaw sensors.
Rain should not have had any bearing on the situation. I have had limited success in disconnecting the battery, then reconnecting, then driving the vehicle in a large parking lot while turning the wheels from lock to lock in a figure 8 pattern. After two complete figure 8’s, it may have recalibrated itself.
As far as having it serviced at other than a Mercedes dealer - Not many private shops carry the factory diagnostic tools required by Mercedes. From my experience, Mercedes will give you very little standardized data via the OBD2 spec. You are probably stuck taking it to a Merc dealer or a truck shop that services Merc trucks.

Stop at most any auto parts store they'll read the codes free of charge. By doing so at least you know what the cause is then decide which way to go.

Actually we were in a sort of similar situation a few years ago.
Near the end of a trip, after driving 800 miles (so not anywhere near close to home) happen to look down at a tire... WOW! All cracked up, looking terrible. Walked around looking at the other tires yup they're all bad. Sigh. (Kind of surprised we made it as far as we did.)
So what would you do? (I did post this question in the forums here)
Tough it out and try to make the 500+ mile drive home and address the tire situation at home, or immediatly put vacation on hold until you can replace tires?
Granted in this situation its patently obvious that needs to be fixed (unlike some warning lights on the dash that you're not familiar with--you may know or not).
What I did: Ask the campground office if they had any recommended tire shops in the area (they did), wait until Monday for them to open, get new tires and drive home straight from the tire shop.
Of course that did make that trip a bit more expensive but no issues coming home...

Great tool to have and can use on all your vehicles if issues develop. Cheap investment will save hundreds.

Sprinters are notorious for wheel speed sensors going bad. I’ve replaced all four of mine, one of them twice. Covered by warranty as they are initially warranted for five years. Lights mean that ABS, skid control and cruise control are inoperable. Not ideal but not the end of the world. Get it fixed as soon as you can, but I wouldn’t cancel a trip.

If you want a little rule of thumb...
The color of the idiot light tells you what you can do. Green lights (turn indicators, cruise control on) mean its normal. You're fine. Amber lights mean you're ok, but it needs to be looked at. Something is wrong, but well be ok for a bit. Red lights mean " holy crap! Fix it or we're all gonna die!!"
These are not absolutes, but at least you have a metric...

Agree with Darter. Those lights indicate an issue with the rear wheel sensors. I have had mine replaced twice at about $1000.00 each time. You lose cruise control and the Electronic Stability Package until it's fixed. So a nuisance but not an immediate have to repair. Might also have ABS issues so that may be more of a concern. Dealer who did our work said this was not uncommon on Sprinter motorhomes.
These lights will sometimes come on when driving in a high crosswind and you will lose the functions indicated above. This temporary loss will go away when you shut the engine off and restart it. Hope yours is one of these and not the repair issue.

Nobody answered your question about where to take your diesel Sprinter other
than the dealer.
Contact a diesel repair shop and talk to them about repair and service on your rig.
If it is still under warranty then I would say take it to the dealer.

Is it on the Mercedes Sprinter chassis or the Dodge Ram Sprinter chassis? Mine is on the Dodge Ram and so I take it to a Dodge dealer. They are much cheaper and do not try to empty your bank account and only replace the part that is malfunctioning.

Mercedes sprinter ABS
I had the same problem close to St. Louis 2 days from home. Went to Mercedes dealer and work was done under warranty. Would have been over $700. The rear wheels have sensors the wire either broke or came dislodge some how. Ours was caused by rough road. We were going to Yellowstone so I had it fixed. Suggest you do also. Not sure if you are still under warranty. You have 3 years from your in service date , /.Not the production date

But on the bright side: you don't need to worry about this anymore!
(I think you made the right choice! )
