Range hood for 2019-2020 Thor ACE

Hi Folks,
We just picked up a used 2019 30.3. We almost didn't notice (not really), these no longer ship with a range hood/vent with fan and light.

Huh?

Salesman said they decided to put that money toward a 'fantastic fan' in one of the existing vent holes. 'ok, if you say so'

My wife likes to cook and makes stuff that creates steam and smoke. Not ideal for cooking with no range hood.

I am going to install an aftermarket hood.
Anyone else done this? What hood did you pick? Any particular reason?
Anyone know what brand the 20xx-2018 Thor ACE's used?
Thanks in advance.

Range hood for 2019-2020 Thor ACE

No hood at all certainly is interesting. My last coach (SOB) had a hood but it was not vented to the outside so it didnít really do much good. That coach did have a powered roof vent right above the person doing the cooking and it WAS very effective. If yours is near the stove you might give it a try before you go to all the trouble and expense of adding a hood. Especially a vented hood that would require cutting a hole in the sidewall. Plus the vent flapper is notoriously noisy. I think they usually use Hengs hoods. Good luck and enjoy your new machine!

Ventline is the brand that Thor used in pre-2018 units.

Ventline Range Hood

Not sure about venting parts thru the side wall.
But you can always try Thor factory or:

As the OP, I thought I should follow up on my progress.

I fell into pretty hard analysis paralysis.

The thought of cutting into the outside of the coach freaked me out.
It is easy to hide mistakes on the inside and outside of your house, and even the inside of the coach, but the outside freaked me out.

I finally finished.

I noticed in some pictures from the 2018 models, it appears that THOR put an extension on the back of the hood to allow the front to align with the front of the cabinet.
I made a larger extension to get it out a bit further.
I also went through a lot of different external vents trying to find one I really liked.
Here are the pictures.

Very nicely done! Congratulations. Mine has a factory outside vent that rattles incessantly. What brand or model did you choose?

GordSanClemente:

You do great work.
Looks like the manufacturer did it (only better).

I ended up buying a few different vent covers but liked this one the best.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/254355142384

It was available from a few vendors, but the ebay site is the only one that had black in stock.

I selected it for these reasons...
1. Low profile, looked the most "modern". Others just looked cheap.
2. Air flow - The opening is actually quite large without sticking out real far.
They do this by having a big hole that tapers over a wide area.

Also - The unit didn't come looking like this picture. It was clean and well protected. (the one in the picture looks like the stored it in a cement mixer)

I went with the biggest ventline hood.

I ran into one issue I hadnít anticipated. Apparently when THOR dropped the hood in the 2019 ACE, they made the MicroWave cabinet bigger, (Lower). I then ended up with the hood being past the top edge of the range backsplash. This makes it so that the extension I crafted out sheet metal does not sit flatly against the wall. Still not sure what I want to do with that.
The wife wants me to tear out the backsplash. She thinks it is ugly. I canít imagine what kind of screwy glue they may have used to attach and what kind of destruction it will cause to remove
