What toad braking system do you use?

We are getting ready to set up our Jeep Wrangler for towing and starting to look at braking systems. The Roadmaster Invisibrake looks interesting.

I've used Invisibrake for last 3 years and been happy with it.

I wanted a permanent install, use of power brakes, and only braking when MH applies brakes.

Been using Brake Buddy Classic for the last 2+ years and 35000 miles. Very similar to the Blue Ox Patriot system. Works great.

A good viable choice for a DP with air brakes, but won't work on the Ops Windsport...

Well about four years ago I was going thru the same questions about brakes for my Wrangler. Back then it seemed that many of the choices were inserting some module in the floor pan to push the brake pedal along with its "input controls to make it happen".
At the time those systems cost around $900-1500 dollars. Add a towbar and brake light solution to that and it became a real money pit.
Came across a product called Readybrake which is a surge brake system. I have had many boat trailers with that concept so I understood how they worked. At the time Readybrake was about half price or better of anything else on the market. The short story is it mechanically pulls your brake pedal as you brake. Before you choose any system browse thru their web site (google readybrake) and see if it makes sense to you.
(Towed about 30K miles including Alaska, Florida, Gulf Coast, Arizona, Utah basing out of Minnesota.)

Another one for ReadyBrake. We’ve been using one for almost three years and like the simplicity of the set up, especially if you’re towing a jeep, and the cost.

Used the same Ready Brake here, since 2009, on three RV's, and two different toads. It is actually a Ready Brake Elite, but before they labelled it as such. Towed for 80k. Currently tow a Wrangler with Demco base plate. There are other options for the base plate on the Wrangler. If you google "Quadratec" you can spend hours looking.

We've been using RVI brake 2 for 7 years. It is small, portable if you use more than 1 toad (we sometimes use the DW's Fusion), takes 2 minutes to set up/remove and they have awesome customer service.
Their current model is RVI 3 which can integrate TPMS (tire pressure monitoring) by purchasing the wheel transmitters.

Many choices with good reviews so you need to do your homework and find what fits your needs and pocket book. Not cheap but defiantly needed.

I use the BlueOx tow bar with built in AutoStop. Once installed, adjusted, and tested, works extremely well. Simply uses the inertia of the car when RV hits brakes to pull breaks on the Toad. Extremely cheap and effective.

I went with an M&G system. I plan to keep my tow jeep longer than my gas coach, so the M&G system is an air system in the Jeep, and a hydraulic to air converter (for lack of better term) in the coach, so all I hook up is an air hose.

When I upgrade to a diesel pusher with air brakes in a year or two, then the Jeep is good to go and I'll just hook up my air hose.

RVi brake is what we have used for the last three years. Easy set up. Works great. Never an issue.

When we first got our RVI 2 brake years ago about 2 years later while in the Keys the compressor in the RVI Brake kept running. A call to them to see if there was a fix which there wasn't. I mentioned that i had a flat drive home and i should be okay. They said not to wait till i returned home and they would overnight me a new one. I confirmed with the ranger station at Bahia Honda State park they could accept deliveries which they could. I had my new unit 2 days later and when i returned home i sent the problem one back with the supplied return paid for shipping label.

As i previously mentioned AWESOME customer service.

Depending on toad, ready brake seems a good option. The folks who installed my base plate refused to install the ready brake on my Elantra for fear of fouling the steering. Worth checking, I think.
