Removing dinette table pole

Grandkids spent their first night in my 2016 Miramar. When we tried to turn the dinette into a bed, we discovered the pole was stuck into the recessed base in the floor.
There are six Phillips screws around the base with a black Rubber covered button between two of the screws. I tried to lift the pole out with no luck, then I tried to twist it out. Then I tried holding the button down with my foot while pulling and twisting. Still no luck. When I went to get the screwdriver to take out the screws, my wife asked me to quit messing with it and let the kid sleep in the recliner.
I know there must be a simple trick, I just don’t know what the key is. Can anyone help me out before bedtime.
Thanks!
Hugh Chapman

That’s very interesting. The pole should easily be removable. The 6 screws in the bottom can be removed if needed. It is anchored just to hold the pole.

Good luck, some one must have glued it.

Keep us posted.

Beat it with something metal hard enough to "ring" the pole which may break it loose enough to twist and pull out. AFAIK it's just a friction fit: no locking "button", no twist to lock.

If you haven’t been able to remove the pole. You might want to try a strap wrench. Place strap wrench close to floor mount. Turn hard left, the back right. Carefully you don’t want to pull out floor mount.

Good luck.

Have one person hold and lift pole while you "gently" but "firmly" tap the base down (where screws are) with hammer. Once it is out, clean everything up. It should just slip in and out.

Get yourself one of those pads that you'd use to get a better grip on a glass jar for lid removal purposes...

We have this same motorhome and had the exact same situation happen. What we found out was this, grip the top of the pole and shake it side to side front to back while pulling up, works all the time. Just be careful of your balance when you are doing this, when it lets go you will fall backwards.

Thanks everyone. We’re camping in a state park with no Internet service so I’m just now seeing some of these. I’ll try the suggestions and let you know how it works out!

My friends ended up sitting on each side of the pole, holding it from the top and rocking it back and forth...looking like they were on a carnival ride, until it came loose. As someone above said, maybe use a non slip material, like shelf liner, or carpet liner, for a better grip. I bet they enjoyed the recliners though! Memories made!
