RV Park guide online?

Has anyone come across a good app for Smart Phones to find camping spots? I have been all day trying to find a spot in Council Bluffs IA for a couple weeks. We are going to help a family member who is having a serious surgery so need to be close. I know the Woodall directory would be a good choice but if there is one for my phone it would be very handy. No one is taking reservations there at this time. All first come, first serve. Is there anything out there I don't know about?

RVPARKY.COM I use it all the time on my phone. Also use RV Park Reviews - Trusted Reviews of Campgrounds & RV Parks on my lap top. Have safe travels.

Allstays is also excellent and it has an excellent map. I have both on my phone and iPad.

You might try www.reserveamerica.com for Lake Manawa State Park. There's not many commercial parks in CB or Omaha. Call the local RV dealers for suggestions.

As a last resort, there may be a mobile home park that allows RVs.

Good luck!

Good information. Thanks all, I appreciate it. Mr. Sunshine, you are right about not being many in that area. Unfortunately The College World Series is starting at the same time as our trip. The parks I have contacted with in 25 miles say there aren't any available for 50 miles. This happened to us once before while coming to this area for a short stay. That was 3 years ago and we got flooded out at the Casino RV park. They said it happened every year during the CWS, bad drainage. Lake Manawa says they no longer offer camping. I have Reserveamerica and RVParky on my cell phone now. Going to take a look at the others. Thanks all

The RV Parks Review that Jamie recommended iid great. I put Council Bluffs in it's search and it returned dozens of parks.

Woodalls was the standard but they were sucked up by Good Sam: still as comprehensive as before as it shows all campgrounds although you can filter it by Good Sam campgrounds only if you like. Even includes Federal and State parks.

I agree. Lots of info there. I called several and no one reserves due to the College World Series starting the same week we will be there. Thousands of people desend on Omaha and not even hotels available as far away as Lincoln NE. I may end up bouncing between Walmart and Cabella's

See if you can boondock in the hospital lot until sites become available.

Here's one more suggestion. West of Woodbine, Iowa (my home town) is Willow Lake Recreation Area. A very nice well kept park in the rolling hills 6 miles west of Woodbine on Easton Trail. Here's the blurb from their website.
"Willow Lake Recreation Area consists of a 27-acre fishing lake with boat ramp access, fishing jetties, handicap fishing pier, 6 miles of prairie and woodland trails, campground with electricity, water and shower houses with restrooms (open April 1st through October 31st). There are also six rental cabins available-click on the facilities link on the left for more information or to make a reservation. - See more at: http://www.mycountyparks.com/county/....lhqs5Sxv.dpuf "

If you don't mind a drive of less than a hour, try Willow Lake Recreation Area. It's a small well kept park in the rolling hills 6 miles west of Woodbine, Iowa (my home town). Here's the blurb from their website:

Since you have a smaller RV I think the hospital would probably let you stay on their grounds, ask, the worst they can do is say no!

Since we have a 25 footer we have parked at the end of a lot of parking lots without a problem. Maybe you can find a Walmart close to the hospital

I just pulled up google maps for the Council Bluffs area, typed in 'campground' into the search box... and voila, at least 12 different campgrounds in the area.

Yeah, I problem isn't the number of camp grounds, the problem is thousands of people desending on the community for the College World Series. I was told be one camp ground that there is nothing availble for 50 miles. After calling several others I have come to believe that. If they have a vacant spot now they will not take reservations. I could reserve it with rent beginning today and us not arriving until Saturday but I'd really rather sleep at the walmart than to do that.

The on line app will hopefully guide me in the right direction when we arrive. Woodbine sounds like a reasonable option.
