Scale weights for 35m windsport

Thought this might be useful to some
Scaled my 2017 Windsport 35M with no driver. Fuel tank under 3/4.Water tank under 1/3 full. Mid grey tank under 1/3. Mid black tank under 2/3. Rear grey tank under 1/3,rear black tank under 1/3 LPG tank 2/3 full. Coach moderately equipped for camping.

Left front tire 3500# Right front 3200#. Left rear 6200#. Right rear 5600#

Total front axle 6700#
Total rear axle. 11800#
Total gross. 18500#

Notice that left side is 900# heavier than right side.

Your weights are surprisingly similar to my 2017 Hurricane 35M (the sister to your Windsport 35M. Here are my weights:

Left front: 3380
Right front: 3360
Left rear: 6140
Right rear: 5660
Total front: 6740
Total rear: 11800
Total vehicle weight: 18540

Wow. That is close. State certified Portable scales were used for my measurements. Analog dial type. Theoretically they are accurate to 50 pound increments. I rounded down to closest 100 pound increment. It is nice to have a rough idea what she weighs. Your confirmation makes it even better. Thanks DocP.

Thor really leaves a lot of available cargo carrying capacity, even more than the sticker on the wall says.


My 34F weighed ~17,000 in a near empty configuration. Loaded with people, gear, 1/3 water, 1/3 waste water, half gas - just under 19,400.

Yes, they do! That was one of the reasons for choosing the Thor model I did. I traded my Class C in after 1.5 years because I was always maxed out (actually "over") the CCC.

Did you know some specifics before buying, or just go by the manufacturers CCC sticker. I forget what my sticker says for available CCC, but I think it is off from my actual weights. I will check and hopefully update this.

I based my initial purchase decision on the actual sticker (see picture attached), showing the CCC as 4,791 pounds. I then had the 4-wheel weights done when I had it aligned and the SafeTPlus steering stabilizer installed after loading it up. So, my actual weight of 18,540 is fully loaded (including full tanks of gas, propane, and very nearly full on the water and most of the holding tanks). This weight does not, however, include any occupants.

That is some good info. My sticker says 4624 pounds. Do you folks still run 95 psi in the tires? I traded my Class C for a Class A. It was the right move for us. The increase in storage was surprising.

No, I run them all at 80 psi based on the recommendation of the outfit that did my alignment and weights (Mainline Truck and Trailer Service in Bedford, OH). I attached a screen shot of their recommendation. This was based on the actual weights and the Goodyear tire inflation charts. The 35M ride is so much better at 80 psi than it was at the 95 psi listed on the wall sticker of the coach. The truck service center said that if I wasn't happy with the ride, I could drop all of the tires down to 75 psi.

Thanks. I might try that. When I picked up my 35M at the dealer it only had 80 psi in the tires. I bumped it up to 95 psi after I drove home 30 miles. I was concerned with the body roll and did the CHF before I took it back out on the road. What aspects of the ride did you find improved with the 80 psi ?

At the lower psi I feel less bumping when traveling on less than perfect roads. At 95 psi I constantly had to listen to dishes rattle in the cupboard. So, ride comfort was the primary advantage of going with the lower (and presumably, correct) tire pressure.

As an aside, I use the EezTire T515 tire pressure monitoring system on both the motorhome and toad - just some extra assurance that I'm not driving with tire problems.

Thanks for the info. Did you notice any change in fuel consumption? I drove a Ford E350 For work. One time we replaced the tires and inflated them to max psi of 80. I drove down the road and it felt like I was on marbles and the ends wanted to swap. I dropped the pressure to 65 and it drove great.

I've got to be honest - I don't even calculate mpg anymore - it's too depressing. My best "guesstimate" is that I'm around 7.5 mpg (and I'm most always towing my Ford Explorer). This isn't much different from my Class C mileage (2106 Coachmnn Leprechaun 319DS on the E450 platform). I didn't drive around too long at 95 psi, or take any long trips at that pressure - the harsh bumping ride had me take action very early on.

I hear you Brother! I understand that. I almost did not ask the question. When I was researching getting a large RV I got the advice. " If low MPG is a huge concern, don't get a motor home." You strike me as a detail man so I took a shot. I guess I let my curiosity get the best of me.

DocP,

Could you tell me what pressure and temperature your tires rise up to when you get them warmed up on a trip? I start out at 95 psi with a temp of 70 degrees. They go up to around 112 psi and around 90 degrees depending on ambient temperature.
