If the valve is sticking: that's an easy thing to fix.

They do that so there is water added to the black tank to keep every thing in solution as some people don't put enough water in the tank. Thanks for the great answer.

The factory basically told me to dump tanks and apparently not use them on the road. Also, the work was done partially at a dealer that wanted to replumb the sink but was told no by Thor and then Thor took possession of the coach without my consent and declared it not a problem. Now the front heater doesn't work. They had to pull a new HDMI cable as the TV never worked ever!

Thanks again for the suggestions.
So did the factory actually tell you not to use your bathroom when traveling? We normally start out with empty tanks, but do use the restroom when stopped once in a while. Never had a problem except once when we failed to dump a black water tank that was 3/4 full, and left the vent in the roof open in the restroom and left the stopper out of the sink. Yes, we got a smell and it wasn't pleasant. So now we keep the stopper in the sink when traveling, and keep the roof vent closed. We also dump after camping for a day or two. Since we have done this we have not had a problem. Please tell us how Thor took possession of your coach. Inquiring minds want to know.

Maybe LP odor?

I too had unpleasant odors in the coach intermittently for several months. Being a motorhome newbe, I did not know exactly where the problem was. After reading this forum, I started running some water into the bathroom sink to keep that "P" trap full - problem solved!

THANK YOU THOR FORUMS!

I sure learned a lot in this process, but the most peculiar thing is that some LP gas is not perfumed which leaves it smelling a lot like sewer fumes. So I bought a "sniffer" which should be in any RVer's tool box. No gas leaks but a lot of peace of mind.

The number one problem on my Vegas 24.1 is the inadequate suspension/steering of the Ford E-350 chassis which has cost me $2k to correct.

The handling aside, in my first 18 months of ownership I have had very few problems with the coach that I could not remedy myself and the rest were all readily fixed by my Thor dealer.

Sure, there is some shoddy workmanship because they are in too big of a hurry to keep costs down and depend on the dealers to correct defects. With the exception of the suspension upgrades, I am happy with my purchase and hope the horror stories on this forum represent a very small percentage of the RV public.

I have a Freedom Elite 28H. The lav sink and shower drain into the black tank. No problem. A lot of water for drainage and I always camp with full hookups. I use a treatment called HAPPY Camper. The enzymes work really well. No smell and no perfume smell. Breaks things down very well.

I follow the logic for sink stopper as precaution, why do you keep the roof vent closed? Expecting smells from outside or is it somehow impacting vapor fumes inside the coach?

Did he ever explain how Thor took possession of his coach? Did they give it back, I mean just what in the world wide of sports happened?

btw, it is 29.3 I want. This site has spooked the hell out of me though.

Keep the roof vent closed because it will draw the smells out of the sink (negative pressure in the coach from the vacuum created by the open vent will draw in air from..toilet, sink, etc. if there isn't water in the bowl/traps, etc.).

Don't be spooked: That isn't the point here. The point is to be well informed going in so that you can get the unit you want with a minimum of fuss (e.g. by selecting a good dealer, having a good checklist, and keeping an eye on things).

Hi,
Obviously late to this thread...have a 2018 Tuscany with almost all of the same issues. Shower not draining(no valve under sink), mounding fell off (the large one across the slide) and mirrors not mounted per manufacturers specs (yes I called them and they said they have received a ton of complaints from Thor owners) as well as Aqua Hot issues (same comment from Aqua Hot about Thor) lead me to believe Thor must know about the issues during assembly but choose not to do anything. I am at my whits end trying to talk to them. Bottom line is in fact is bad manufacturing and sales to an unsuspecting public.

Sorry to vent, this rig had 7000 miles when I bought it and it has been falling apart since I did. Shame they are buying everyone up, there will not be anything built with quality that you can purchase in the future .

Are you sure that you're in the right place?
We were actually discussing the sources of funky smells in the bathroom...

I had a Winnebago that didn't have the valve attachments on the sinks like it is mentioned above. What they had were vents that went to the roof. I have had P traps siphoned by the motion of the liquid in my tanks because of a clogged roof vent.

This happened 10 years ago and I can still smell the stench In my case, all I had to do is take a garden hose, climb up on the roof, take off the caps on my vents and push the turned on hose into each of the vent pipes. I had a vent that was clogged over my gray tank. I don't know what it was but all I saw was the water level rise in the pipe and then recede as the clog went was dissolved or pushed down into the tank.

That was the solution on that rig at that time. Have a look at how yours is built and see if this solution works for you.

As for suing Thor or the Dealer, forget about it. Not worth the time and money. You are better off playing the warranty game, make a list, give it to your dealer along with your rigg and they will take care of it. It will take time but it will eventually get resolved with people skills and patience. If you are out of warranty but have an expensive extended warranty, have your dealer work with it to get the repairs done. If all fails, don't sweat it, just fix it yourself with the help of your friends here in the forum. There are lots of people here that would help you.

Good luck with all that!

Unsuspecting public is another way of saying uneducatable individuals. The public part of it is so Stupid feels as if they're in a herd and if the herd does, Stupid can.

Not a single soul in ANY culture, world or galaxy wide, believes a vehicle sale is something to go into unsuspectingly.

All that hate and discontent wasted on an RV.
You should have sold it long ago and bought a boat. Boats are so much easier to hate.
Make life grand again.
Sell the rv tomorrow or try to explain to us why you don't sell it tomorrow.
If it offends you...pluck.it.out.

Did you buy this used and as is? If so Thor didn’t sell you anything and they didn’t make a penny off the sale. Also when sold used you cannot in any way, shape or form know the condition at the time it was sold new any more than you can know how the prior owner cared for the rig.

I have failed to understand why you could not just change the Studor valve, if you have one and added a bathroom sink plug. One or both should solve the problem. Why is this so hard?

She was an office girl, her name was Betty.

Long story shortened:
I got kicked off the air for 10 days due to a Helen Reddy song of all things.
'Oklahoma honey has ahold of a hell of a thing of a thing'
