To answer part of your original question: yes, they do make cord reels for RVs. I've seen them on coaches much fancier than our Vegas. The power ones are pricey. Even the manual ones waste a lot of space. Doubt your FE has enough bay space for one.

Here's an idea you might consider, how about a properly sized bag for that cord for storage?

Good idea! CW sells bags for your hoses that would work well for this!

Maybe not inside, but I saw this online and it works pretty well with a 50 AMP cord, so a 30 will work

RV Living with Pauly: Protect your outside RV cords from the elements

Someone mentioned theft, I am sure you could also run a cable or chain through this and lock it to something.

Hope that helps. Bradley

Maybe turn the door right side up?

Home Depot has power cord retractable reels. I was trying to come up with a installation of the reel. THOR could easily have your 30 and 50 AMP cable stow somewhere on the RV, and have a retractable reel,

Since this has been bumped here is what I did about a year ago.

I bought a ready made 4 ft 50 amp shore power cord that is intended to be hardwired to the ATS and has a male receptacle on other end. Then I put a female receptacle on the previously hard wired end of my OEM 30' 50amp shorepower cord. Now I can easily unplug. I no longer have to fish that entire long cord through the bottom port opening. I just stick the female end about a foot into bottom and connect. I actually have the Southwire EMS so I plug into it while the EMS plugs to the ATS hard wired 4 ' cord. If my EMS were to go bad, I could simply unplug it and plug my shore power cord directly to the ATS 4' cord.

I can easily wrap my unused 50 amp shore cord and put into electrical compartment, another compartment or sometimes I leave home locked at the pedestal or in my garage.

I've been trying to figure out the management of my 50 AMP cord. I decided to purchase a bin, cut two large slots on each end. Then i can coil the cord in the bin and only pull the required length between the power post and my external receptacle.

I then cover the container for rain protection and can push the container under the RV for additional protection. I have no area on the RV for a reel or cutout in the bottom of a compartment.

Is that picture deceptive, or is that pedestal that close to the water?

I would love that campsite.

Your pictures are helpful. Can I ask why are you wanting to protect the shorepower cord? I would be more worried to ensure I could lock the plug in connector on the Pedestal. I would take the excess and simply roll it as much slack permits and slide under RV and call it a day.

Even though the female side of my shore power cord goes through a 4" deck hole into the Electrical bay, I still may have some cord I coil up outside that is under RV.

I am never worried about rain or elements. Thus my question.

A few pictures, very simple solution to keep the cord coiled and stowed while plugged in. Then i applied a few slippage marks on the 50 AMP plug to detect rotation of the connector.

It certainly looks nice

Mine just gets wet, covered with snow, or baked by the sun. It cost enough, so I gonna get every inch of use, wear and tear out of it
