External solar panel plugged into outside outlet.

Have a new Thor Outlaw. I am thinking about a portable set of solar panels. I know I can direct clip it to the batteries but wondered if I plugged it into the outside plug (when the inverter and master are off) would it trickle charge the batteries? Or would that pathway be shut off?

I am a bit disappointed that the solar controller included with the coach apparently only works with a roof connection. It would be nice if there was a secondary plug on the side of the coach.
