Small air conditioning unit in garage

I have an Outlaw and there is a small window style unit in my garage. It looks like it would not take a lot of power. Does anyone know if it can be run off of shore 110v?

Might be handy to have one aircon room when my power choices are limited and I don’t want to use the genie.

Thanks.

I have the same rig. It is only a 5000BTU unit and is on a 15A circuit by itself in the coach. It will run off an outside 15A circuit..... it only draws about 5A. My question is why do you want to do that and not off the shore power inside the rig?

I even ran mine off the Inverter by running an extension cord from the TV outlet in the garage and turning on the Inverter just to see if a 1000W Inverter could do it...... and it did.

Yup! plug ir into an extension cord, and then tie the cord into any 20 amp outlet. It'll work just fine!

Right now I have it in covered storage and only have a 110v hookup. I want to do some work in the garage (remove the jackknife couch and put in some storage) and it is hot in Texas already. Lol

I am also about to have some sway bars and some suspension upgrades done. I have been reading about it here on the forums and it seems like a good thing to do.

We pulled one couch out of ours (LH side), and figured out a way to secure some tables and chairs to some "O-head" bolts that fit into the existing hardware left behind from the jacknife sofa

SumoSprings are the way to go!

That’s awesome and just what I was hoping. I haven’t tried my stud detector yet but am hoping it is not hard to find mounting points when I need them.

Bob you did springs as well as sway bars?

Gotcha..... that makes sense on the AC! A regular 15A receptacle will work just fine.

I did the Hellwig Front and Rear Sway Bars. I also did the 500lb Sumo's on the front and the 1500lb Sump's on the back.

In addition to those upgrades I also installed the Roadmaster Steering Stabilizer.

All of the changes made my Outlaw 29H handle and ride more like a large SUV compared to the "dump truck with a dead elephant tied to the roof" that it was.

I could not believe the difference those changes made. Best $1500 I could have spent.

Took me three 1/2 days to install it all.

Right now we are talking about the sways bars and the steering stabilizer. Since I have the 40 footer I am not sure the same shocks apply but I will ask. And I am not sure what is underneath my Outlaw right now though I know the factory doesn’t think about anything.

“Dump truck with a dead elephant tied to the roof” HAHA

Curious on thoughts of this A/C in the garage. Have those 5000 Btu units been enough to cool down the garage for anyone with this set-up? I'm looking at a new outlaw and have been concerned about the adequacy of this size unit, especially considering the back door leading out to the patio wont insulate as well as a wall.

They do a pretty nice job in the garage.

Thank you Bob. My intent for the garage is more for overflow sleeping for kids and carrying miscellaneous...I won’t have any gas powered toys. In this case, would people suggest opening the bedroom sliding door and running all 3 A/C’s or is it best to keep the doors closed and just let the 5,000 btu work the garage? I think there will be a fair amount of in an out between the patio and the garage area, so just wondering if the A/C can keep up. Will be doing most of our stays in the south, but generally skip the July and August months.

It'll do just fine... You might not need to put on a sweater in there; but you also will be kept relatively comfortable.
