So many more question from this Newbie (only 3 week old!)

[Info: Newbie Mid-July, Chateau 24BL-so many questions...thanks for help]

When I plug my RV into garage, 110 volts, is my fridge running on propane (which is turned on) or on the 110. Just interested because it's working great in 90 degree heat.

Not familiar with your rig but on my fridge the switch says “gas” or “electric “.

My fridge just says "auto". or "gas only". - it does not indicate if it is running on propane or electric (wish they had an indicator light for this)

Ok. Gas is propane and auto is electric

yes but the fridge does not distinguish. It only has and indicator an switch for "auto" meaning elec if available and if not gas. ...and a switch to force "gas only". But...there is no way of knowing when it is running if it is using gas or electric (unless of course the switch for gas only is selected).

However, it's alway on auto - I have the RV plugged into 110 in the garage and propane on...so there's no way of knowing if it is currently using the electric or gas.

Have you gone to the Thor website and downloaded the owners manuals for all the components of your rig? That has really helped me. I have found a lot of great information.

When the fridge senses 120, it closes the gas valve and the heating element uses the 120. Leave it on auto. If you're at a campground and away from the RV and the power goes out, it'll automatically switch to gas and your food won't spoil.

If you're plugged up, it will use the shore power unless you have a bad valve. You can witness this by taking the fridge vent off, start the fridge on gas and then have someone plug it in to 120. You should hear a click and the 'furnace like' sound should stop. You have to do this when you first fire up the fridge or you could be standing there waiting most of the day. Tick Toc, Tick Toc...

Yup: electricity is it's first choice.
But you can "force" it to run on propane; if you wish to use that setting.

Sure there is, go outside, plop a chair down by the fridge vent, pop open a barley pop, sit in the chair until the barley pop is consumed.

Did you hear the ignitor click and light he flame?

Yes - it's on gas
No - it's on 120 VAC

Barley pops are great tools to help you troubleshoot your RV, even the NA ones.

Our's is not here for me to check but I believe when on auto there will be one small light lit for shore power/generator and two lit for propane. I could have it backwards.

No. You got it right. Green for SP, Green/Yellow for gas (in my rig).

there is an non/off switch. There is an "auto" switch and there is a gas switch.
If AUTO is on there will be a light lit. The fridge will look for 120 volts if your plugged in. If you want gas you need to turn OFF the auto and turn ON the gas.

No lights are lit on gas. If the "check" light comes on you are out of gas or have a problem.

Cav, my yellow light blinks when there's a problem. Like if I close the propane valve when hooked to shore power and forget to open it when I'm getting ready to hit the road. I may have a different fridge - Norcold 611.

Every RV I've had has lights to show what is happening. Auto should check for 120 Volt AC to run, if no AC it should switch AUTOmatic to gas and try to run or run if propane is turned on. If it can't ignite you should get an error light.

Leave it on the AUTO setting to save propane when hooked up to shore power as electric operation is the default.

For the initial cool down I set mine on GAS because it cools down quicker.

The gas switch must be on or it will not light on auto.

Hello DWM, take a look at this web site :

https://www.thormotorcoach.com/owner-resource/

(My 2019, Chateau 22E works on 110v when plugged, if not on 110v, it will go to propane on it's own) If your rig is 2014 or newer, see this site.

- Only Available for Model Year 2014 and newer Motorhomes -

https://www.thormotorcoach.com/owner-resource/ (you should create your personal user access to all components - PDF files = Manuals, Quick reference, Spec sheets ... all specific to your model - 24BL )
