Steering column

We purchased our first RV. Is it normal for the steering column on a 29M to have some bounce when going over bumps?

No, that's not normal. Pull on the short lever that adjusts the column, located on left side. Move your steering wheel up and down thru it's range of motion a couple of times, now let it lock in place, you should hear a thunk when it does and see if the little short lever locks in. Now try moving the steering wheel up and down, if it feels solid now you're ok, if the wheel has a lot of movement then you have a problem that needs to be looked at.

Thanks Super for your reply. The ajustable steering wheel is not what I was referring to. When going over bumps in the road the column moves. It does not feel loose but responds to the road.

I think I understood what you were talking about but if the steering wheel doesn't lock properly it would seem like the whole column was moving. Since this is not the case with yours then you need to have it checked, if the column is not properly secured it is a safety hazard. Please get your coach checked to be sure. I have a 29M and my column doesn't move at all, and it shouldn't.

We just took the rv out for a test run. Being new to this I'm getting use to the feel and handling. What I feel is pretty much all the bumps in the road through the steering wheel and it vibrates with the bumps, It does not feel loose and steers well.

What tire pressure are you running? Most 29M owners run about 82 psi and that seems to be about right. When I got my coach from the dealer all the tires were at 90 psi, made for a rough ride!
