I'm not a tech person and just doing things I have read about on the forum. Good point that if it works with the generator it's not there. If it's not broken, don't fix it. Thanks.

Tomorrow I will have to go and invest in a voltmeter. Of course I know nothing about what I'm looking for. Are they for both 120 and 12 volt?

YouTube is the only reasonable answer.

The RV hasn’t been out to a campground yet for us. I plugged it into a 15 amp outlet but a very long extension cord. I then used a 3250 watt portable generator which I think is a 20 amp plug with a dog bone with the female end and plugged in the power cord. Both ways, a little green light on the end of power cord lights up. If the transfer switch is stuck as someone mentioned, can it be unstuck. In about a week, I will have a 30 amp outlet where I will store the unit. I guess if it is a transfer switch it will probably have to go to a repair shop. Thanks again for all the help so far.

Someone mentioned about transfer switch stuck or bad. With being hooked up to 30 amp service could that unstuck the switch? I live in a very simplistic world and looking for options.

I kind of doubt that anyone could be that lucky...
It normally takes an overt action to fix these things... they don't co-operate without some type of persuasion...

You leaving out way too much information to help. To resolve something like this assumptions can lead us astray.

i.e you now mention portable generator? I assume you were using the RV generator? Does RV Generator work?

How exactly do you have it plugged to 15 amp at the house, pictures would be nice?

Are you using same cords for portable generator and are you plugging in a the same point? PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES

Transfer switched don't normally stick.
Thor installations of transfer switches is usually the problem with the wirenut wire connections. This requires a non-energized visual inspection at the transfer switch.

I have a general 3250 portable generator that has a 20 amp plug on it plus the 15 amp outlet. I have a dog bone plug for the 20 to a regular female end like on a extension cord. Then I have the adapter To connect to the power that plugs into the RV. The onboard generator gives me my 110. Thought maybe a portable generator instead of household might work. While I think of it, where is the transfer switch located. Thanks.

That helps but a picture is better here is why.

110 AC is 110 AC. It should NOT matter if it comes from external portable generator or the house.

It is obvious you have the portable generator pluigged correctly to your coach but it is not clear to me anyway what you are doing with the House 110 AC

If you have an issue with ATS you will likely need an electrician to look at that, but I would like to see proof that your outlet has 110 AC from the house and how your adaptors and cords look that you are using.
