Smile Thor Axis

Hello all,
We have recently returned from our summer Vacation, and we have some free advice about Thor and Campgrounds where we stayed. If I can help anyone** before buying a Thor product, I would be pleased. Thanks and Happy Trails.

Welcome back. What states did you visit during summer vacation?

Did you get any campgrounds close to any beaches?
I'd be interested in hearing about those...I want to do that smoeday.

Thanks.

Jamie,
Yes we covered 11,500 miles and enjoyed every day. Still trying to get used to the loose steering on it. Good to hear from you.

Loose steering.... would that mean that you do not have a Saf-T-Plus installed?

We stayed at campgrounds in Michigan right on the lake and on Lake Superior. Both very beautiful areas. Take Care

Which campgrounds? Inquiring minds want to know! LOL State parks or private?

If you have any pictures (gorgeous or otherwise) we'd like to see some

Mackinaw City KOA is nice. Not on the beach but only about 5 minutes from the bridge. Wooded and quiet. Sitting at the table typing this as DW is cooking breakfast before heading for the UP in the toad! Headed South to the Muskegon area Thursday.

The St. Ignace KOA is also kind of nice (you can walk across the road to an overlook with a really nice view of the bridge).

We stayed at Mackinaw Mill campground just east of the city. Nice public area between the sites and the water with fire pits.

I agree: where'd you end up staying?
More importantly: what did you think of them?

We've been to that campground several times. It does get very busy during the summer with families everywhere.

We stayed at Elkhart Campground that was great. Clean showers, baths and Laundry.
Grounds are manicured, nice pool and Camping store. Nice campground.

Michigan has some nice campgrounds, with some on the Lake.

We stayed at several KOA campgrounds, that are Individually owned. Some were nice and others not so much. The prices ranged from $40– $75, depending on availability.

We also stayed at national parks in Yellowstone, Montana, Iowa. Montana has some beautiful boondocking areas close to rivers and mountains.

Some of the Local campgrounds were crude with Power and Water only, without dump stations.

Waking up in Yellowstone with a chance to see all the animals nearby— nothing better.

We are 8 days into our first trip with our new to us 2016 axis. We started in the HOT state of FL and are currently in north GA. We have no plans. Just stay for as long as we want and then drive as far as we want. Next summer will be the trip to the great lakes.

I hope you enjoy your trip. One place you should visit Rome, Georgia and dine at the flying Volkswagon. Very Good and a Hall of Fame for us Veterans. Enjoy..

Um, did you mean IDAHO? There are no national parks in Iowa. If it was Idaho, did you stay at Yellowstone? (Don't feel bad, many people don't know the difference between Idaho and Iowa.)

Wilderness State Park is one of our favorites, about 6 miles from Mackinaw City directly with 2 miles of Lake Michigan frontage. A distant view of the bridge and an occasional freighter, also plenty of hiking trails. We are heading up in September and looking forward to it.

Take your Thor to a Truck and Tire shop for an alignment. They were never aligned from the factory and many replied to my post to confirm that.

Yeah, true enough and that's what I had to do with mine. Thor reimbursed me for the cost after I sent a copy of it to them. Later on they paid for the wiper recall (happened again but i fixed it that time) and I learned that Rainex put on before a long trip is pretty good for repelling rain.

Agree! I used RainX religiously on all my cars. What Thor address/department did you send your alignment receipt? TIA
