Thor Chateau coach face delamination

When we first got our 2016 31W, I was under the coach doing suspension upgrades and noticed almost all of the walls had plywood showing at the bottom. I then proceeded to rub caulk around the whole bottom all the way around. I guess I saved mine.

We have since traded for a Monaco DP and they are no different. Raw wood edges under slides that I had to fix.

jabrabu...you've probably saved lots of people tons of damage with this post! I will go underneath my brand new coach and look for this exposure. I think a few cans of "Flex Seal" or similar product may be on the short list. Thanks for taking the time to post pictures, etc.

Flex seal works great for sealing up RV stuff. You can also use it to seal up the pocket behind the taillights before it leaks and gets all nasty.

Those rusty screws must have saved Thor 2 cents in the production of your coach. How thrifty of them!! I wish there were more regulation in this industry like there is in automobiles and commercial trucks.

Overall it's been pretty good. I think all new RVs have issues to fix, and continue to have some issues as you use them. This one had several, but they have been fairly minor and I was able to fix them myself, except for this delamination issue. I could probably fix it too, but it looks like a bigger job that I'd rather have done by a professional.

Here are the issues I've had:
· Expanding foam crumbled in left side stowage compartment
o Applied new expanding foam and painted black
· Trim at front of slide was loose when new
o Glued/sealed with silicone adhesive
· Bottom of drawers popped out in kitchen and bedroom
o Fixed 2 drawers with glue and staples
· Hinges ripped out for stowage under bed
o Installed new screws
· Mud flaps in front of rear tires – supports ripped out.
o Used zip ties to secure flaps
o Installed screws and covered with gorilla tape
· Water leaking inside from under slide
o Tightened fitting on water heater
· Compartment doors over sofa come open while driving
o Installed magnetic latches
· Weatherstripping in stowage compartment by entry door came out, leaving gaps to outside.
o Re-installed weatherstripping and sealed with gorilla tape

Ours is loaded with pretty much all the options, and it is a very nice a luxurious RV. Power driver's seat, automatic levelers, full slide-out, power mirrors, leatherette sofa and dinette and cab seats, etc. We like it a lot. I recently installed bigger swaybars and a Saf-T-Plus steering controller to improve drivability, but it wasn't terrible to begin with. My next planned upgrade is to install sound deadening around the cab and doghouse, and replace the stereo and speakers.

I'm not a big fan of the frameless windows. I prefer the old style that you can slide wide open to get more airflow. I think also prefer a regular tank-type water heater instead of the instant tankless.

Thanks for this forum. After seeing this, went under my 17 Quantum. Same issue starting on passenger side. Thor's screws on the cap missed the plywood. Caulkds, screwed as caulked again with Flexseal. Also coted the exposed vertical face of exposed plywood. Caulked and sealed driver's side before the delamination started.
