Top Vents
OK everyone. Here is a question my wife and I are debating. It is 94 degrees in Northern VA today. No complaints about anything...it's summer.
Question is this: I feel like it should help to leave the four top vents cracked about 1/2 inch or so to let hot air escape as colder air falls to the floor. My wife feels like it would be better to close them up and let the cold air do its thing.
Any other opinions out there?

I keep everything closed when the air is running. No reason or facts to support that. Just a mentor who owned a heating/air business said it worked better that way.

The roof air in your RV has a cold air return vent that sucks in the cooler air from inside the RV and runs it back over the coils before it blows it back out into the RV colder than before. (Did I say that right? )
So, like your car or front of the RV with the engine AC on, the re-circulation button serves to take the cooler air inside and make it colder inside quicker.
Therefore, I’d leave the vents closed.
Haha, DW is always right!

Leaving them cracked a little bit likely won't hurt anything but think of this: If hot air is escaping, where is the new air coming from that will replace that hot air?

What about taking the back one out and installing another ac. Is the hole big enough

It's not the size of the hole...
It's the capacity of your electrical supply system that matters.
Do you have a 50 amp, or 30 amp setup?

I have a 30 and a 20 I added for heat but I’m thinking about putting in another ac with heat with built in controls. China is making some nice ones now

I leave mine closed. I also have camco vent pillows installed in all except the one in the kitchen area. The vents thin piece of plastic has no r value.

Leaving vents open will bring in hot humid air. Why would you want to do that????

Do you leave windows cracked open at your house?
Definitely closed unless you are just airing out after starting AC

During a recent trip to Florida, the heat drove me to purchase Camco vent cushions, one for each of the four roof vents in my 2019 Chateau 31W. Without them the single roof AC was completely overwhelmed trying to keep up with the heat load from the blazing Florida sun. With them, the interior temperature dropped to something bearable--not as cool as I would have liked, but a lot better than it was without them.
Opening the roof vents in the heat of the day is a non-starter. Once the sun has gone down, and if the outside temperature has dropped to a level lower than that inside the coach, then you can pull the cushions out and open the roof vents--and at least a couple of windows--to allow cooler fresh air to enter the unit through the windows as the hotter air rises and escapes through the roof.

As my parents would ask when we left the door to the house open during hot summer days - "Are you trying to cool down the neighborhood?".

I agree with the previous posts.... the Camco Vent Insulators are the waI aly to go....
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The vents are not insulated so heat can radiate into the coach in the summer and heat can escape in cooler months.
I also installed these Camco Vent covers to the actual vent is protected from hail and storm damage, prevents sun from beating directly on vent and allows the vents to be open during rain.
