Inside vs outside sunscreen?

Hello - I'm a newbie here, having just purchased a 2016 Thor Siesta. Just starting to think about gear, add-ons, etc. Haven't decided on a cover, but, for now, I have an old sunscreen from my car on the inside of the RV windshield, held up by the visors, to keep the heat out and protect the dash and seats. But it doesn't cover enough - not big enough.

Anyway, I am trying to decide between an inside and an outside sunshade. Seems like an outside shade would block the sun better, and keep the heat out - but with some risk of coming loose and blowing away, or of being stolen. Both would be low risks - but I am curious which one people use. We live in So Cal - Santa Barbara - and it doesn't get scorching hot here - but we do get lots of sun.

Any input would be appreciated!
Dan

In the winter our unit is completely covered (Michigan--doesn't get used in the winter). In the summer while in storage I cover the front windows with a similar foil inside cover. I picked up 3 from Camping World and cut them to fit:
Multi-Purpose Foil 4' x 10'

While we're camping I cover the outside of the windows with a Sunguard RV windshield cover. This guy has the advantage that during the day you can look out and people can't look in--like a heavily tinted window. At night we have to close the curtains because the effect is reversed (more light inside than out).

This way I don't leave my sunguard on the RV during storage (don't want it to weather prematurely since it cost a lot more than the 3 foil panels), it won't get stolen, and/or won't get blown off the camper.

I went with inside, just don't like things hanging on the outside. Had a custom shade made to fit, I didn't want to see through it, and now i'm having custom made shades for the two side windows. Also I don't need to see though those either, I have a Class C. Made at CARid.com. The side curtains, just got word they will not make those. Guess, I'll be doing that one.

Lowes has the same stuff. I bought a roll and did every window when I had my 5th wheel. It really helps keep the sun and heat out.

Do you use the same stuff on your coach ?
We are undecided with the new Axis..with previous Class b+ we did interior reflection.

I also use the foil, i bought mine from Camping World when it was on sale, but the Lowes 25' roll is cheaper... I tried using velcro patches to hold the foil on to the window frames, but the heat loosened the adhesive, so now i just trap it between the windows and the window shades.

If your coach is on the Sprinter chassis ADCO makes a windshield cover that should fit. They cost around 50.00. I had an ADCO for my class C. It took about 3 to 5 minutes to put it in place (outside) and worked like a champ for over three years. It did start to yellow late in the third year. The nice thing about it was that it covered the front and side windows.

If you go to this thread and look at post 23 (on page 2) you will see the ADCO in use on my prior class c.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their input. Going to go with an inside reflective screen for now - will check out Lowe's, cause it's a lot closer than Camping World!

Thanks again

Inside for us. Always ready to use - no need to ever clean, no wet or dirty storage problems, install/remove with ease and in comfort in any weather and easy transfer to new rig. Over 50,000 miles, two class A's and they still look like new.

On the Vegas and Axis anyone know the size of the front and side windows off hand? When I get home later I will go out and make measurments but just thought someone might know off the top of their head.
